Wheel Assembly Hub Problem

Car  Family Bus
wheelhub.gif

Sorry for massive picture...only one I could find LOL!

Had a flat tyre and my ex put the spare (standard rs wheel) on for me, then I took it to the garage, and when the guy took the spare off, the arrowed 'steel ring' in the centre came away with the spare...

Anyone know anything about this...the guy in the garage was useless!!

And anyone know where I can get a new assembly CHEAP???? :(

Are you 100% sure it wasnt the spigot ring that should be sat in you aftermarket wheel??
there should be a metal bit, then a plastic bit that slips over i would have thought!!!

100% Its the ring thats attached to the disc...they showed me before they put the wheel back on

Thats a standard clio front hub, your saying that round metal piece that the wheel sits over has gone?

kin hell never heard of that before
if it is the case you only need the hub flange and a bearing kit
matt at the breakers 01254386661 can do you both but you'll want a press to fit it
youll pay quite a bit for a complete hub but i reckon about an hour less labour

them calipers look a hell of a lot like xkr/db7 rears... i hope thats the case as i have one of those
hmm.

I cant see how that came off, its part of the hub. Heres a pic of my hub. Are you sure it wasnt a spigot ring or even a spacer??

which pic?!
the one you posted the brembos.
they look exactly like standard fitment xkr/db7 calipers be a touch if they are.
are they yours mate? is the caliper direct fit to the hub or is the a seperate bracket on it as db7 ones bolt straight to the hub

sorry to go off topic

Its ok, lilblondie wont mind........, They came from Godspeed mate! were a kit made up for the clio, but i think the caliper itself is used elsewhere! At the min it has some jag pads in it!:clown:

yes thats it!
jaguar xkr rear pads!!
i've had one of those calipers in my box for years.
got me wondering now lol

Cant beleive it would just come off like that, what aftermarket wheels were they, did they fit properly? either way then you'll need a new hub.

If it is definately that thing, you need a new hub flange, but if you just get that it will need to be pressed in as above, with a new bearing, so best to try and get a complete secondhand hub!

I have aftermarket wheels on it..and ex put the std spare on. Think that may have been the problem?

Right! Whatever a flange is I think i need to get a hub then! If anyone knows where I can buy a cheap one please pm me or text me 07515370144 as Im pretty desperate to get it sorted asap! Thanks!! :D

I think its a spigot ring............ she wont have it......... here's where i am going to be proven wrong and never hear the end of it!

Ex put it on....the bolts took forever to tighten apparantly....but seemed to be on ok! How can it be a spigot thing? I saw the disc...it had a big ring missing from it and the ring was in my hand LOL!

Pic of the ring that was in your hand!!!!!!!!!

:o Dont know where it went!

Trust me...its that thing that I said was rusty!

:quiet: ok ok, you need a hub!!! But your wheel aint going to fall off because thats missing, your wheel will just not be sat 100% right, may give you wobbling issues!

You need to source a new bit sharpish! Any reno specialists near you?!

am just well paranoid its gonna fall off on me :( Hope it doesnt LOL
Dont know about reno specialists....dont want to be ripped off....hoping can get a 2nd hand one tbh!

lol every1 has ur number now, aint we all lucky ;)

Was just thinking that. I don't phone numbers for girls that start threads re. broken rings.....

Just waiting for the inevitable "some b*****d just called my mobile". Looking at the profile picture, could well be me;)

Tut you lot! I have call/message blocking on my phone so not worried about that sort of problem!!!

Hmm bolts took ages to tighten up seems strange unless that was him thrashing the spigot ring flat, mine are only made of nylon so they'd crush with enough force.

I'm closerish if you want someone to change the hub/have a look.

Have to agree with the common suggestion that it's a spigot ring and certainly not part of the hub. Not all Spigot rings are plastic/nylon some are metal although it's fairly unusual.
