Wheel bolt removal tool help.

So I tried to take the wheels off today so I can give them a thorough cleaning,
but the Renault wheel brace couldn't cut it, it was bending so much it worried me,
not to mention the fact that it's so short I can't get any decent leverage.

I need some advice on what's the best thing to do the job.

I've seen long breaker bars used before so was thinking of getting one of those,
i've also seen them click when (i'm guessing) the wheel nuts get to the correct torque?

Would either of these be any good or do I need something better?

Either of those will do it for you, have you tried jumping on the wheel brace, I have had to do that with honda one and it was fine.

Mate I was stood on it with all my weight and bouncing up and down on it,
I thought the silly little thing was going to snap! :S

Or slide something over the wheel brace, i.e jack handle, piece of pipe to give you more leverage. Having a breaker bar will come in handy for various things though.

Who put the wheels back on last?

Britannia Tyres in Coventry when the new tyres went on in Jan/Feb.

There have been so many little jobs that would have been so much easier
if I didn't have to use brute strength with a conventional socket set.

bet they used an air impact gun... duck eggs... just get a breaker bar 20 quid or something. I take mine everywhere now as i cant be bothered to be stood at the side of the road jumping up and down on that poxy black little thing should i ever get a puncture... By far the tool i use the most!

I just use my torque wrench in reverse to undo my wheel bolts, I keep that in the car as I refuse to use those stupid wheel bars that come with the car.

Right then, breaker bar and torque wrench tomorrow then.

I've just spent £40 quid on torx bits and car supplies today,
looks like i'll be spending more tomorrow. lol

At least they'll get some decent use in the coming years.

I use the breaker bar to loosen them and then one of those cross brace things to spin them off. I find it a bit tedious trying to spin the breaker bar.

As soon as i've loosened them I can use the poxy Renault brace to spin them.

How many Nm of torque do they need to tighten them?

  Whichever has fuel
Put the normal brace on it, then extend it using a bit of scaffold/bar/something else metal and hollow.

Oh, and man up. x

Right'O luv, I'll go steal some scaffolding from somewhere then.

I used all of my mighty 12stone on it but nothing,
I think the bolts were put on by He-Man's bigger stronger brother. :S

Well it's just the "typical" garage whacking an impact gun on as they can't be bothered to look up the correct torque (which is different depending on the car etc) so a generic "do it up f****** tight with a power tool" ethos is used.
