Wheel cleaner.

  2015 ST2(MO)/CorsaLE
Yeah I suppose wheel acid is fairly strong acid isn't it, not the kindest substance! I was just under the impression white spirit might disolve the clearcoat or something but I'll take your word on it mate!

you only have to worry when its not been lacquered- it will remove paint then! but factory finish it wont remove any paint! :approve:

Ah now you said that, it kind of makes sense - I took it to the bodyshop as whoever had sprayed it originally hadn't lacquered it well and over time with polishing it had got worse...same thing is happening on my front wheel, although not very noticeable at all. Sadly I am thinking I might have to sell the 172 come September when I get my company car which will be a *cough* Twingo Dynamique *cough* ... not sure how I feel about that!!!

The silence says it all lol!

Can get a Renault Sport when I am 25 though...although the new Megane, Laguna Coupe and that 2 seater sports car would be tempting. Just have to endure a year and a bit of people mocking my 1.2! No its actually ok though, and asked for a black or tempest grey one...hmm.

still a company car! (although ive had one in the past) more trouble than there worth tbh! id much rather have my car and drive what i want! but thats me ;)

No I know what you mean mate, never actually "yours"..kind of had my eyes on the new Scirrocco a few years down the line, the 172 is perfect still for now, REALLY don't want to get rid of it after all the TLC that has gone into it :(

i understand! and what with the tax you pay on them these days! id rather have my toy on my drive! not some company bike! ;) LOL (unless it was something really special) which isnt going to happen :)

When I can get a 197 or Laguna Coupe or whatever I will be happy, Twingo just ain't up to the job, never nice going backwards in the world is it?! Think the tax I pay towards it is pretty low though, on paper I will own it I think. Meh!

I'm worried about my wheels atm. I Wash them with car shampoo and then give them a quick scrub with AG machine&engine cleaner and thats it. I do this every weekend.

Latly i have found my wheels are slightly duller than they used to be but i didnt think it was the AG machine engine cleaner as i thought it wasnt acid based.

Do you think it is this?? I've never polished waxed them before as i can never be arsed due to having multispokes and would take me hours and be in lots of pain.

would ag polish seal and some wax brighten them back or are they screwed?

AG machine engine cleaner isnt acid based!use SRP on them will bring them up well if its just the shine your after - then you can seal them with various products!

AG Engine and Machine Cleaner is not acid based. It is a strong cleaner so will strip and remove and waxes/sealants from the wheels.

Ideally you should only need to use once in a while as it will dull the finish.

A polish and seal will sort it, then you will just need to wash with soap and water.

Always use the mildest approach you need, all these strong cleaners and solvents are not needed week in week out on in good shape wheels. Overkill approaches make me laugh - bet the same people use a JCB to plant there roses !

Treat them as you would the cars paintwork and you wont go far wrong, after all they are painted in the same way as say your bonnet.

:eek::eek:

Ah s**t i been using ag machine engine cleaner on them every week for ages now. That'll be why they duller.

I guess i'l do the whole polish seal wax thing next time i wash the car. Even though it'll take me ages and kill my legs.

LOL once you have done it should bring them up well ;)

instead of AG machine cleaner i use - Stardrops a lot cheaper and fab products imo!

Cunning - I have seen people moan and say that juts claying using soapy water causes the clay to break up. I have never had a problem, must depend on the clay.

  Mito Sportiva 135
It happened to me before using some grey clay, but once it dried out it was fine and good to use again.

The inside of mine are like right now! Tried cleaning through the spokes but wasn't moving, going to have to take them off again! OR maybe leave them until they are so black it looks intentional!?

LOL :) acid based cleaner may help and you could always spray the inside (nice silver :S
