Took the Golf on a track day back in October and haven't cleaned it since (really not a fan of cleaning in the winter) and having come to give it the first spring clean I've realised I probably should have done something about the deposits on the wheels.
I've used Meguiars Wheel Brightener (the purple one), with various brushes and mits, followed by a normal clean with shampoo and a noodle mit and it's still not coming off.
The Wheel Brightener usually shifts most stuff for me, but I don't like using it as it's pretty harsh and I worry about it damaging the clear coat if I use it too much.
It's been a long time since I did any 'detailing' so what's the current best product for shifting this kind of thing (the square patch is an old wheel weight mark):
