Wheel sizes - explain?

  Black-Gold 182
Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a second set of alloys for my 182 as;

1) I want a set for track use (still got my old Michelin's with some tread left on)
2) I need to do some refurb on my Anthracite alloys as curbed to buggery.

My question is, what size are the alloys for the 182, and can someone explain to me how alloys are sized (I've seen things like 10x13 when looking around, but doesn't mean anything to me.)

I've heard offset being used, but can someone explain to me what this is?

Sorry for my stupidity!:S

I'm doing this at present, keeping my 16's for road use & getting 15's for trackdays. ( cheaper tyres )
Doing it on a budget i got some mk 1 172 alloys & will use toyo R888's.
The offset on the alloys i have got is as close as the standard whells i could get.

Your alloys should be 7J 16 ET 45ish.

Curbing dont really matter just visual.

Money_beast 182 I hope you don't mind me using your thread :)

Using ET 30 on a 172 ph 2 FF is out of the question I guess????
Will be using 195/50R15 as winter tyres...

they are pretty curbed, and are 15x7 et 37. but they are straight and balance fine. price, £100? which includes a nearly new set of spiggot rings and unused bolts.
