Wheel Spacer Size

  C4 Grand Picasso

I have Mk2 172 wheels on a 2002 1.2, the n/s back wheel rubs slightly when cornering hard. What size spacers would sort this out, will 5mm be enough, and will I have to get longer wheel bolts to fit them?

dunno whats best, but if you use spacers, no matter how big, invest in longer bolts.... demon tweeks do them, ask for the wheel dept if you ring them.

On the 16v i have 8mm spacers, and use 10mm longer bolts... wouldnt go any longer ( +2mm) than that cos you may go to far in.

Is your car lowered with the 172 rims on? Mine is standard at the mo, just wondering if the 5mm spacers will be enough if I decide to drop the car.

Yes, thats what I was thinking of, 30-35mm drop.

Cheers for the pic, its given me an idea how mine will look after crimbo (mines also black), well sweet, nice one.

ive taken the wheels off and put 17s on for now, but once i put the full 172 stuff on i will put em back!! are you gonna do the whole lot??

No, just keeping the 172 wheels and am going to attempt a DIY lowering job next year (it looks fairly easy in the DIY guide on this site).

The idea was to keep the car as standard as possible (or change stuff that can be reversed later) so that it will be easier to sell later on, I am debating whether to trade it in for a 172 in a years time or sell it and get a motorbike, Ive always fancied a blue and white Suzuki GSXR, and my crappy job doesnt pay enough to have both.
