wheel spacers!!

  B-road bully

jus got my clio (2000 mtv 1.2) lowered 35/30mm after putting 16" alloys (172mk2 style) i heard you need 5mm spacers on the back wheels, i told the mechanic this but he told me i didnt need them plus it would make it unsafe as he wont get "5 turns on the bolt". is this ok? or should i jus put them on? thanks

why would you need spacers on the back? surely if thier 172 style wheels they shouldnt rub on anything?

They are a different offset so need 5mm spacers. Ive done about 20000 miles with spacers and standard bolts without a problem, just make sure you get the right torque.
