Wheel trouble

Hi everyone,

Sorry for a really awful girly "I don't really know much about cars" thread I'm about to start but really need people's help!

1. Rear wheel bearings need replacing. How much does this normally cost? If the back ones need doing, how possible is it that the front ones need doing?

2. When steering to the right there is a loud squeaking noise. Started about two months ago but really think i should get it looked at now.

I have a 51 reg 1.2 16v Dynamique with 84740 miles on the clock.

Would really appreciate any help/advice people could give me.

regarding the squeaking when turning, check the power steering fluid is the right level, I had this happen on my car a while back.

for my rear wheel bearing i paid £50 supplied and fitted i think at a local garage as its not a massive job.

i was going to suggest power steering fluid, and worryingly im getting a squeeking noise from mine which is actually a shagged tyre with no tread left on it.

jack the car up, corner at a time grab the wheel like its a clock at the 12 and 6 position the rock it... if the wheel moves and u get a clonk or atleast feel it the wheel bearing is shagged... any good garage or tyre fitters can check this for u... im not a huge distance away if u fancy driving to burford area i will check it for you.

Thanks very much, gonna get it done at my parent's friend's garage, just needed like a rough idea of price.

As for the squeaking, I'll check the power steering fluid. Won't be the tyres as I only got them replaced about 9 months ago.

Not for me.....I would have no idea what I'm doing! The only thing I do to my car is change oils/fluids and clean it and anything else that I have any idea about!!
