Ive been thinking of doing the same job Ben, but going full on and doing the entire upper and lower dash in Alcantara. If you want blue we could go halves on a ten metre length? Actually what would you want 5 m of the stuff for? Maybe its time for as complete alcantara retrim?
Sorry Nick - black or dark grey for me! I want get enough to do the top of the dash (probably black). Id love to have the doors/rooflining done, but think it would be a job for the professionals really. Im going to be having a good sniff around Glens custom leather-ed up interior!
Do you know Ben ive been toying with the idea of black alcantara-ing my door cards and dash top!!! Ill definately go halves with you if you want?
I should have my interior a bit more sorted than when you last saw it! Currently have the door cards in black leatherette (although i want to change this to alcantara!), leccy window switches are now nicely flush mounted - as opposed to hanging out as they were before!
I should also have ALL the bits of retrimmed plastic stripping in by Sunday too!
All that will be missing is my roof lining and gear knob gaiter! (Which im STILL waiting for - but am getting far closer to thanks to Paul!)
Well Glenn should remember my ideas on full leather - Im talking door cards, seats, roof lining, gaiters, parcel shelf, dash including speaker grilles, ash tray etc. And leather needles on your dials. And leather interior door handles. And leather pedals.
Sounds cool, just like an Aston. When you say leather door cards do you mean just the cards or wold you get the whole door fitting trimmed. Would look cool with the fitting one colour and the card another. What about aluminium handles?
I know a guy who does the leather trimming on Mercs, Bentleys etc. Not in the factory but hes on of the approved repair/retrim guys.
Just out of interest, how are you attaching the leather/alcantara etc to the door card. Are you just putting spray glue on both the door and the back of the material and using a heat gun to mould it round the contours? Also how do you manage to get it around the sharp corners on the egde of the door?
