Where to put a jack for center lifting.

  Clio 172
I havent had my head under the car yet (2002 172) but I'll will need to be on axel stands for service soon.

Can it be jacked up in a single place at the back and front so I dont have to jack up each wheel one at a time.

Cheers,
Dan

On the back you can jack on the rear beam. However there's no place suitable for center jacking on the front.

I think theres a guide in the guides section for the best places to jack

Don't jack it up on the rear beam, it might bend!

My car lifts up front and back if I jack it up at the front. I use the subframe bolts where the frame bolts to the chassis.

Can you explain to me how its going to bend when there is hardly any weight over the back?

Never mind the bending thing, wouldnt imagine its very safe to balance it central on the beam even if its only for a few secs.

I use the beam for axle stands but wouldnt jack up in the middle of it. Just my opinion rather than right or wrong lol

I jack the front up and the rear wheel comes too!

+1 lol, i did a double take first time it happened!

why not just jack up on the sill as normal and support the car with axle stands on the rear beam?

I wouldn't have the front off of the ground and then jack up using the center of the beam. Seems ok to jack in the center if your only raising the rear though.

it's 'safe' to jack in the middle of the beam, providing the jack's secure

i've been doing it, but have been wary due to what you hear about the beams bending easily. it's been for three geo checks whilst i've had it though, and there's been no change in the rear geometry
