Where to run hands-free microphone?

  Clio 2002
First post!

I am asking for advice on the best way to run the hands-free microphone on a Renault Clio mk2 (2002)

So far I have unclipped the the over head reading light and installed the microphone just outside the casing with the wire running through the roof lining, along the top of the windscreen, down the front column, under the steering wheel block and that is where i have run out of ideas. i somehow need to get the wire behind the stereo. so far i cannot seem to find a way to do that.

If any of you guys have been able to do this, please advise

Cheers

argh really, i was hoping that there would be a way to go up and under the center console maybe. 'easy set' it say! lol

i might look in to removing the dash then.

cheers

Mine is under the edge of the roof lining, down the drivers pillar and then fed behind the dash (Taking the dash off is a simple job) then into the head unit.

thats exactly is what iv done except the final dash removal to reach the head unit. Can you advise at all on how to remove the dash?

you can pull it behind radio from footwell - and cable tie under the column - no requirement for dash off

aye, use something like a superod, and push thru from radio to d/s rear of footwell, then tape n pull thru. Also find bicycle brake cable works a treat, u will need something like tht because of all the trims

Sorry to dig up an old thread here;

For those guys that say they fed the microphone cable through the foot well on the passenger/ driver side - where did you clip/install the actual microphone? Does that mean you have a length of exposed cable?
Any pictures would be great to see. I think I'm tackling this job on the weekend!

Thanks!

I'd feed it over the top of the glovebox personally. It does mean taking the dash top off but it's so easy to do when it's off that you really would be daft not to. My mic is tucked into the top of the A pillar trim. The cable goes down the trim so there's no exposed wiring.

Any chance of a pic . mine is in the same place but it is kinda dangling. need to figure out a way of getting it pointed at me by using a clip or something - perhaps even some bent paper clip.

Oh, mine has a little bracket on it;

You could possibly bend a strip of metal into a 'P' shape and pop the microphone into it, then slide it into the trim? Simple enough.

I personally ran mine out of the back of the head unit, under the steering column above the pedals, up the door pillar and then across the top of the windscreen. There's about 6 inches of exposed wiring that I keep hidden by not using the sun visor but that's because I'm lazy. It'd take 2 seconds to pull it through and cable tie it underneath the dash but I can't be bothered. You definitely do not need to remove the dash - I've got a Mk2 Ph2 as well and I didn't remove anything barring the little bit of rubber to run the cable under up the door frame.

On my mk2 I had it down the passenger side a-pillar and through glove box but on my 197 I have it down drivers side a-pillar, under steering block and then in to back of HU.

Saying that, mine wasn't about the reading light, mine is just at the top of the a-pillar.
