Which are the best ph2 172 springs for ride/handling/drop compromise?

It's a well worn question I know but which are the best springs to offer a 30-40 mm drop (I don't want to start popping driveshafts or causing damper leaks), an improvement in handling or at least the same ability as standard yet a good quality ride (as near to standard as possible).
I have read the threads time and time again about the merits of the Sportlines, the Pros and the Apex but they never seem to come to a real conclusion.
What do you think?
P.S. Wheels are to be Cup Turinis in the near future.

Eibach pros seem to be the common choice and highly rated by all that have them ive certainly not heard a bad comment - H&R are a good if expensive alternative (thats what ive got but not a 172)

Len - if you want the car lower don't bother with the Pros. They're not cheap and you'll be disappointed. If you want to improve the handling... get the Pros.

Hi gh172,

Will the sportlines provide as good handling as the pros? Is the ride a lot worse than the pros?
As i heard the pros don't drop the car at all....

sportlines are really good, much improved handling, very little difference in the ride quality and 25-35mm drop, oh and k3nnis just buy them dude the handling is as good if not better than the pro's!!!

Hi Wide,

Yeah i will get them :) I guess if the ride is too bad i will sell them and get pros lol:P

Cheers,
K.

eibach pro's get my vote.. but they'll only lower it 10mm/15mm at the most. They do improve the ride IMO

thedoc,

you mean the pros ride is more comfortable than stock? Also have you tried the sportslines by any chance?

Cheers,
K.

Thanks for all the replies so far. From what I can gather, the Pros are only going to give a slight drop which probably won't be noticeable enough.
Does anyone have before and after shots of each set, a big ask I know but Xmas is coming and I am still owed my b'day present so I need some ideas.:D

You'd be hard fetched to notice any dfference between a Eibach drop and standard ride height.

Are you planning on changing the shocks as well ??

I was a bit like you when i decided to drop my car a year back.
I'd read that Eibach give good handling with little or no drop and the other alternative, Apex dropped the car perfectly but gave a hard ride.

At only £80 for a set i thought sod it and went for the Apex and if i didnt like the ride change to Eibach.

Best thing i ever did. Really nice drop and the ride isnt harsh at all and i do a lot of miles in it too.

I even turned the Koni's up to a harder setting cos i felt they were too soft !! haha

I say go Apex

Cheers Andyman. I wasn't initially planning on changing the shocks but may well do. I thought about coilies but I can't really justify the outlay.
I think it will be the Apex.
What shocks have you got and how much were they?

Im running Koni adjustables.

Think they where just over £300 and odd for the 4.

Here's the link to the place i got them from. Really good company this.

Cheers Andy. I had a look on there earlier but they don't list a price for the Koni's. I'll have to email them.

Eibach Pros on mine although it's not a 172. Noticeable on mine although not too low, handling is a lot better, ride is slightly firmer but not very noticeable
