Which brake pads for Road and Track ?

Ok, so I took my clio cup on track last weekend, and although the car felt good, the brakes were utter crap (to be expected as I have no idea what they are, as i've only had the car a couple of weeks).

Anyhow after 2 laps I lost all feel to the brakes and even now, I don't get much feel from them on the road, so I suspect the pads are glazed and the fluid needs changing.

I will be fitting new Brembo HC discs, and ATE Super Blue fluid.

Just need some advice on which pads to go for really.

The car is a daily runabout but will also see the track as often as I can.

So i'm looking at ds2500, ds3000, ebc bluestuff (shame they don't seem to do orangestuff for the clio's yet), or CL RC5+ (pagid blue's and pf pads seem over priced to me).

I've never used any of the above before except the ds2500 on my old Evo 6 as they came with the ap brake kit I had on it.

Initially I thought the ds2500 were great on that (circa 400bhp), but once the power went up (well over 600bhp), I felt the ds2500's were crap, they would fade very quickly and never seems to give much initial bite or provide any real confidence, therefore i'm a little unsure about using them on the clio (even though it's much less powerful).

So out of the 4 that i've mentioned, which do you think would be best suited for my needs ?

I know that when it comes to brakes it's a pretty personal thing, but I like brakes that I can have confidence in, and will give good bite every time without huge amounts of dust and as little squeal as possible (yes I want to have my cake and eat it :D).

I'd go with the DS2500's out of the parts listed myself or opt for some CL's although I've heard they rot your wheels. I've "had" EBC in the past & they destroyed my Pagid R Discs. For hard track work I'd probably look at getting some braided hoses as well.

Woo, was about to say the same as Mike the man! Best pads I've ever used in the standard calipers, bite like hell! Won't eat your discs either. Great compromise

Ive got pagid blues on the turbo, love them!

DS2500 on the mrs daily, they work really well too.

Ok thanks for the replies so far.

I'm still unsure on ds2500's and i'll take the ds3000's off as I don't wanna wreck paintwork on the car or rims.

So that leaves the bluestuff, rc5+ or maybe pagid blues.

So where is the best place to get the pagid's from as i've not found anywhere listing them yet, and just found a few threads with prices around £200 suggested.

Another one I've heard of but can't find a price is Performance Friction 97's? Any good/Expensive?

Had CL RC5's on my old car and it ruined my paint after a few months, now running Ds2500's which are fine but no where near as good as the CL's.

Paint with CL RC5's AFTER a wash, you can see where ive tried to bring it back on the door. No doubt a hardcore clay session would of sorted it but still, hardly ideal for a road car.

DS3000s are the reason my clio needs a wheel refurb, superb stopping power and never faded around Oulton or Silverstone, although I run 4pots (becauseballer). I never had an issue on the road with them.

No worries, postage on that was £12 but I had a few other bits aswell-pads were £161.27 incl VAT. Heard the PF97 are decent, but make a bit of a mess. Have a set but not tried them yet as still running the RS14s. Be interesting to see how they compare.

PF97 are awesome used them in the Xbow and would do 3 hours of constant track work with no issues, love the eat paint though. Awesome in Clios too.

The pf .01's are ment to be good, almost as good under braking but without the dust, but there usually pretty expensive and not sure if they do them for clio's anyway.

Ok ds3000 off the list too.

So bluestuff, RC5+ or maybe pagid blues then (getting there slowly :D) keep the reply's coming :D

Pagid RS14 - fantastic modulation & very little dust. Pricier than the blues though :(

I've been using DS2500's all round on mine and not had any issues with them. Using DOT5.1 fluid as well and braided lines and Brembo HC front discs. They don't squeal at all. They were recommended to me by Mark Fish a couple of years ago.

Same here, but they squeal like hell even with 1444s. I know Mintex pads squeal anyway, but this is ridiculous. You need to use the sticky back squeal shims. Soon as you take the pads out though the shims are useless lol. Dread to think what Porkies pads are like
 
I've run Pagid Blue and CL RC5+.

The Blues were great, good bite when cold, never faded when hot, seemed to last for ages (2+ years of town driving / spirited driving / couple of track things).

The RC5+ have ridiculous bite when cold and you can almost feel them grinding the metal through the brake pedal! You would have to be some sort of mentalist to get them to fade on the road or even the track, from what I can tell. I always found amusing the way that you could press the brake pedal down a certain amount, leave it in that position, then feel the braking effort increase as the pads warmed up lol That makes them perhaps more difficult to modulate, but I would definitely buy them again because they give such confidence. Not even that noisy, a lot less noisy than the Blues, although I like the squeal tbh ;) :D

Only downside of the RC5+ is that they don't come with the springs on the back of the pads so they rattle around in the calipers as you go over bumps (or they didn't when I bought them, which was a few years ago now), but if you're running an stainless exhaust anyway, it's just one more noise to put up with lol

Porkies just sounds like its completely broken, like a bolt has come off somewhere and jammed in the disk, its horific.

My god do they work well though!
