Which cam belt kit?

  A special one.
Hi all,
i have just bought a ph1 172 with 39k, it had a belt kit at 18k which was almost 5 years ago now.
I am looking replacing the cam belt kit now and wanted to know what kit is best to buy???

The choices have are

SKF from Euro car parts
Conti tech from Euro car parts
Gates belt kit
or a Renault kit

Price wise there is nothing in it and tbh it does not matter, i just want to do the job once.

Cheers

kit from renault. get it fitted by someone who has actually done this before. save you an arm, a leg and a 'help my car broke down' thread.

Renault or Gates as said, by the sound of you're PM you won't struggle, but you do need specialist Renault locking tools to do the job yourself. If you'd like a hand/like to let me watch and learn give me a shout. :)

Cheers Rob, i will be going to Bromley pagent on the 13th so after that i am going to do it.
Is there anywhere i can get the locking tool from or shall i put up a post about lending one?

What are you like at making the tea?......lol

Cheers again all and yes Rob i might take you up on that offer.

I fitted a Gates kit to my van very good quality so i will go with that make then.

Cheers for that, i worked on Aston Martins for over 10 years and am now a engineer in the newspaper print for the last 8 years.

I just have never done a cam belt on a Clio i hope that once i get the setting tool the job should be ok.
It does not matter if i spend all weekend doing it as my car is just a "toy"

You can buy the tools I think? But they're not cheap, around £120 or I've heard.

Someone on here may have a set for sale/to lend you. Post a thread up in the wanted section and see what comes up.

As for the tea, I don't do hot drinks, so I disappoint on that front I'm afraid. ;)
