  57 Ibiza Formula Sport

I know ive made a post about this before but im definitely buying now! ive been given my grandparents 03 reg suzuki wagon r to sell, to buy a car of my choice with what i get for that (around 4500-5000)

so...

my dad really wants me to get a ford ka and i know if i dont ill never hear the end of it, if something goes wrong with another make. ive always wanted a new shape yellow punto, but he says fiat are crap and i can almost hear him already saying "i told you so"

what i want to know is...

what other make of car have you/someone you know had other than renault? and what problems did you encounter?

bear in mind the cars ill be looking for wont be bigger than 1.3

thanks for your help :)

A ka?????

Hope your a girl.....On a serious note a pal of mine has 1.3 fiesta finesse and to be totally honest in around 2 years i havnt heard any problems or major ones apart from genral wear n tear such as brakes, tyres etc!!!

Lets not forget if a Ford gos wrong itl be cheaper than most cars to repair too!!!

well sorry, get someone to move it if its upsetting you so much! where exactly is the place to ask about cars?

yaris look too grandad-y

dont buy a punto

sh33ns (member here) current girlfriends punto went into a manic spin at 60-mph on a dual carriageway, ended up sliding into a signpost backwards, seems the problem was related to the steering, the car had been into the garage a coupld of weeks before to have the steering looked at

puntos are dangerous cars

right watch out on kas the stearing rack is very weak on them and from ford its around 800 to fix inc labour or 300+ from any other garage

  cock mobile.

I would recommended a Punto Sporting anyday!!

Bryans right, my girlfriend did have quite a major problem with hers. But after all thats one out of thousands (etc).

She is actually thinking of getting the older shape Punto Sporting now (yellow of course) and selling her 106.

Anyway, Punto Sporting is the way forward :)

Some bird i knows had a 206 for a while and the engines really tappety for the age of the car!!!

IMO they dont look that nice until you start gettin to the sport or CC models either!!!

Id say a 1.2 16v clio would be the best starting car!!!

bf has a 1.2 16v clio dynamique and all the faults hes had have put me off! i think its definitely going to be a 1.4 206, in black :) since ive found out i can afford to insure and tax it and have had good reviews.

talking of road tax..how much is it? i read on the post office website that cars registered after march 2001 dont pay on engine size, but whether petrol or diesel :/ something to do with emissions i think? anyway..for any sized engine private vehicle it was 90 quid for 6 months tax instead of 60? can this be right?

also, i checked thinking 1.4 might be a higher tax bracket, but it only goes up at 1.6, my bf has a 51 reg clio, registered after march 01 and he only pays 110 a year for tax, rather than 160 as it says on the post office website for cars registered after then so im confused :(

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

as he said

my wife had a punto sporting mark 2 in black.

6 speed,0-60 in 10.9 from a 1.2 engine.drove it myself a few times very nice on the inside.

that money should get you a good one.

never had any problems with it either.

in fact she now has my old HGT in yellow of course.

dont think you will get a better sporty car for that cash.

lots of nice colours to chose from also

:D

If you want a reliable, solidly built car and are not too worried about speed, then Id recommend a nice VW Polo. IMO theyre really nice looking cars, nothing too flash but wont go wrong. They hold their value REALLY well too so youd probably get back almost what youd apid for it a year or so later.
