Which engine conversion can I do on my 1.4 16v 2005 mk2?

Hello i want to know which engine conversion I can do on my Clio as I want something fast my 1.4 is slow and insurance is fucked for my age so I'm thinking to do a conversion that will get me to 150-200bhp I want serious answers only and yes I know it won't be a simple engine swap
 
So you're 17 and your insurance is already " fucked " as you say. Now you want a bigger engine , more horsepower. Then your insurance really will be fucked .
My advice is , enjoy what you have . Get some experience on the road then in the future look at buying a car that has a little more poke.
Learn to walk before you can run .

You got a point but the car really feels slow I want something that will pull me to my seats atleast a little bit when I put my feet down I could get a 182 but as I said I won't even get a quote on that lol
 
You won't get insurance on an engine conversion if you cant get it on a 1.4. Pointless. Just save your money, wait till you're more grown up, then buy a faster car.

You should try asking on CSOC. There's a lot more of the younger owners in there who will have done all the stupid things you keep asking about already. I'm afraid you'll only get serious answers here.

Can't insure a standard 182.
Wants to insure an engine converted 1.4 (which will include bigger brakes etc, so LOTS of modification to declare)
Plus the cost of the conversion, time spent off the road.

Behave yourself.

Pointless exercise really but wants to commit insurance fraud. One of the main reason his insurance is so high is people doing these exact things.
Won't get a serious answer on this forum, just finger waving from us sensible grown ups...
 
Firstly, even a 1*2 engine won't 'put you back in your seat' as you put it, they aren't the type of torquey engine that'll punch you in the back when you put your foot down.

Secondly, if you don't declare mods, especially something as big as an engine change, you're a idiot.

That's right. What he needs is a laguna V6 diesel. That will have loads of torque and can probably be fitted in a clio in an afternoon. Maybe.
 

s**t he done fucked up and to all those people getting pissed coz I said "who said I'm gonna declare mods?" Obviously I'm gonna declare them as I'm not gonna risk my licence but just answer the main question which engine conversion will I be able to get done ? If I could get a fast car I would but I can't that's why I'm here trying to get some real advise

Just wait a bit and develop your driving skills. It's better to be over gripped than over powered when your still a relatively newish driver. I learnt alot of car control in my first crappy 1.3 maestro but it was so hideously underpowered it was funny. When I then jumped up to a 2. 0l Sierra, rear wheel drive I could handle it better. Acceleration isn't everything, car control in bends is more beneficial as you'll learn more about car dynamics, handling and car control.

But you can't, because you're just a child.
You'll only ending hurting yourself and, more importantly, innocent bystanders.

Suck it up and accept that the bigger boys have bigger cars, and you can't have them yet.

But here's a glimmer of hope for you.

Instead of trying to polish a turd, save your money, drive like a sensible person. Rack up some no claims discounts.

Then, in a few years, with the money you saved from not trying to turn your sensible shopping-trip hatch into something it's not, you'll have a good chance of getting a car that's actually quick out of the box.

It is simply a case of money. If you've ant afford insurance on a quick car such as a Clio, then how are you going to afford to pay someone to do this work ? I assume you aren't going to do it yourself as you seem clueless.. and possibly have amnesia as you ask the same thing regularly.

Wait a few years or jog the Clio on and buy a £500 diesel golf or something. Torque ftw.

Whatever you drive, it will feel normal in no time.

If you wanna go really fast.. buy a bike.

got the money but its just dumb to pay that much for a insurance
 
Most insurers will just refuse to quote a young lad in a modified car, especially one with an engine change.

If you can't get insurance on a 1*2 there's absolutely no way you'll get insurance on a heavily modified 1.4.
