Which induction kit????? 172

Car  Mountune Tractor
Hi all,
Just got my hands on a mk3 clio 172 in spanking condition. Need to know which induction kit is best suited to this car? Any advice welcome!!!!

i have a BMC CDA, superb sound and throttle response, i sell these for a good price if you need one let me know.

Stay away from Pipercross Vipers as well.

I can't believe how much people spend on induction kits, especially as most end up in a reduction in power. For the same money you could get your inlet matched and actually gain something!

A little friend told me you could get away with not telling your insurance company about the inlet mod either.

oh I'm just confused now! I was hoping you were all going to say the same thing! lol! I think I might set up a poll!

Viper all the way - ive tried them all ( including hillpower one ) Viper is the best and delivered highest power on a RR test.

must be something to do with certain RS's.

I had a viper last year, rolling road didnt show a huge gain, about 3 hp!

Fitted a BMC unit in Nov, 9hp up on RR. Plus a better induction noise.

Im only speaking from experience im not a mechanic. Fred or Matt above know there stuff better than me however take from my experience what you will...

lets put the maxogen in the mix ...... now he's totally confused .

look m8y ....how much money do you want to spend on the the induction kit , then we can recommend the best kit for the money .

you could fit a itg panel filter and save the money towards other mods

Ive got a BMC CDA on my 172 with a cold air feed from the fog light. It works really well!

Without the air feed its pants, sounds good but boy racer-ish.

Youve got to get the set up right, then I think you cant beat it.

Dare to be different do what i did on my old clio put a HKS one on

I had it fitted without the feed and it sounded good but was pants performance wise.

Did the air feed and it was really good!! was queiter and I had a better pull through the rev range I was really impressed.

I think the set up is really important with all these systems.

That looks neat dubster, how does it perform & sound ? Does it not suck in the hot air at all a you have no covering ?

Vipers =SHITE
BMC, better but feed is gash
OPEN = lol...Get a grip

MAXOGEN = Shows intelligence and a willing to gain power not lose it!!

Std = Probably the best/sensible option.

To be honest, I lost power with a BMC. In its defence, you can't route a caf decently on the ph1, unless to the foglight, but its still twists and bends. Went back to the standard box , and was amazed at how the car felt, it just wanted the pull. I would say go for the inlet mod, induction just for the roar. Extra bhp quotes and all that, tbh its how the car feels. Again like been said before, noise fools you! :)

Budget really doesn't come into it, if I have to pay £200 for the best kit then this is what I will pay. I would ideally like something that has a good note to it and gives me a few tiny extra horsies. The reason I posted originally is I've been driving hondas for ages and going to a different manufacturer means getting advice. Cheers.:D

you'll be pushed to get a ITG Maxogen then , any of the others should be ok , vipers are around the 250 mark imo

BMC and maxogen will probs be a fair bit more than £200 though.
