Which Induction Kit? TOO HOT UNDER THE BONNET!

  renault clio 1.8 16v
Hi guys!

Right, where do I start!

I have a 1995 N 1.8 16v clio.

I have a pipercross foam induction kit, sounds great but the problem is, i think, because it is right in front of the radiator it's sucking in too much hot air, and when sat in traffic for long periods the car just runs so heavy, no pull at all! When Ive been on the motorway for ages too, the same effect occurs, no acceleration, the engine is real heavy.

Is anyone else getting this?

Tried cold air feeds, no good, doesnt work!

The car also runs better when the air is cooler, it loves it when its humid.

I am convinced its this induction kit, what do you think?

Can anyone recommend another? What are these ktech vipers like? the £250.00 one. Im thinking because they aren't right in front of the radiator, they are away from it, this might solve my problem?

Any induction kit recommended will be appreciated!

Ive heard these ITG induction kits are the bomb but dont think they do one for mark 1 clio.

Cheers
Leigh

I had the same problem with my old 19 16v..even with a cold air feed the K&N cone I had sapped torque and made the car feel flat as fook.

TBH I would try and find an original airbox and drop a good filter in it.....you could always modify it to accept cold air ducting etc.

I head that the valvers don't work well with induction kits etc and that the standard box is best.

ITG or Green panel filters in the std box is the way ahead. TBH, nothing you put on singularly will show any difference, its all placebo until remapped in conjunction with other mods.

standard airbox with a pannel filter of your choice, remember that the airbox is a chamber which stores just the right ammount of air so that when you put your foot down it reacts instantly (or so im told)
