Which Induction Kit

I have a 1.2 clio and i was wondering whihc induction kit everyone has and what sort of performance they got, prices etc.

I know that K&N is the most popular, but have heard reports that in the clio engine this will actually slow the car down. Been looking at hill power and viper kits, but they are quite pricey.

Yeah, theres definitely truth in the K&N slowing the car down! I experienced that on my old 1.2 and it was because it sat as an open filter on top of the engine - just the right place to draw in hot air!! Itll be the same with any open air kit.

if you can get a pipe to attach to the throttle housing and relocate the IK to a lower colder place that would be better or alternativly get a panel filter in your original airbox and cut a second hole and flexi-hose more air into it from a cold place. If that makes sense.

if you have got plenty to spend

other than that it is the ITG Maxogen

hummmm

How easy would it be to fix a pipe to the throttle housing, would it be somethign as simple as a v.big jubilee clip?

If i can get that to work that sounds liek a very good, cheape soloution, saves spending £200+ on a viper or sommet

I dont wanna tune the 1.2, too much, cus id have to spend mega buck to get anything outa it, just making it sound good, back box and induction kit, but i dont wanna slow it down.

Besides it costs several grand for an engine conversion, and if i was gonna convert the engine it would be a 1.6 or 1.8, no point in doing it for only about an extra 20 BHP

I have heard that K&N filters are oiled and this gets pulled down to the mass airflow sensor and ruins it. Well it gives false readings which menas less power

hmm dunno bout the oil thing

smart move sayin ur not goin for power out of a 1.2 coz ull get people bitchin at ur and tell u to buy a valver!

if u want jus to sound nice then K&N and a magnex/mongoose/scorpion/peco backbox not worth investing in a k-tec one for over £200 jus for noise

BRUN has a 1.4 engine for cheap and the conversion for that will be minial but as you said no point for extra 20BHP

if u want real power then its the 1.8/2.0/1.4T conversions which are worth while

Im toying wiht eh idea of gettign a 16v vented bonnet, removing the rain guard part of the vent, cus the air will blow through the vent straight onto the K&N.

What does everyone think of this idea?

I know a couple of people on here have done this with good effect (I think).
