Which lowring springs are best for 172??

Hi all
Just put 17's on me motor but it needs lowering as usual! Which springs are best for this..... Has anyone tryed the yellow Ktec 30mm ones? How about eibach? Or is there any new ones out now that I have not found?

I really just wanted to see what u guys and girls thought to these set ups?....

I too also have the knocking noise when turning right, does this cure it?

Thanks for any replies.....;)

Eibach if you want to retain some level of comfort and best performance, but don't normally go down the full quota of mm.

Apex 40mm if you want looks and actual measured drop before overall comfort, though they still perform pretty well.

Saying that the Eibach Sportlines (?) supposedly go down 50mm and I assume being Eibach they would perform good. Most people go for Apex though for the full stated drop and a cheaper price (£30-40 less) , but can tell you from personal experience that they are pretty harsh and crashy.

Oh and springs would'nt cure any knocking to my limited knowledge.

Thanks! I was thinking Eibach anyway as I have had these before on another car and they were sweeeeet.. Plus I dont mind a small drop as apose to a big one as I have to get in and out of London, which usually involves clambering over a few speed bumps and pedestrians.

I used to go to X-treme to get stuff done but I've heard worrying stories that service has gon to pot:mad: . Where is a good trustworthy fitter???

Speed bumps shouldn't enter the equation with a small-medium drop unless you take them at 60mph which is unlikely in London at any time. Pedestrians maybe!

I've got Eibach Pros and the role has been taken away now and handles much sharper.

Not a lot lower though tbh; a bit lower at the front, rear looks the same.

Apex still retain similar comfort levels on 182 cup dampers, not sure about 172's though....different dampers, different feel I guess!

yeah get the sportlines - ive got pros and they dont lower enough! the rear of my car went down 5mm instead of the 15mm they quote - im now saving for coilovers as it still sits too high and hardly looks lowered - dont get me wrong it definately handles better with pros than standard but wanted more of a drop.

Sportlines sound like a good option (although I went for Apex -40's). Eibach Pro's don't lower enough for what I like. Can't say much bad about Apex: yeah they can be a bit harsh at times but that's cos they really do lower the car dramatically.

I'd like to see pics of Sportlines (and try them out) before I'd consider them - I'd imagine they'll ride better than Apex, but I'd like to see how much they actually drop the car in reality.

Anyone here know if the sportslines are better than the pros in terms of ride and handling?

Got pics of both to compare the height?:)

Cheers,
Kenn.

Got eibach pros, handling is a lot better, doesn't lower the car that much but still noticeable

He's a moderator, might be cli0 172 - with a space in between...

the sportlines wont be better than the pros as they lower the car more which means the standard shocks are going to suffer. the pros do give a firmer ride than standard but will be a lot less harsh than the sportlines. with regard to handling im not sure - although it will be lower I dont think the standard shocks would deal with the height very well plus I know people have had problems with rear shocks leaking after lowering with apex 40mm so the same problem may occur with the sportlines...... but thats just my opinion - I could be talking crap!

One of my rear shocks went only a couple of weeks after having the Apex's on.

Aren't the cup / 182 dampers different to the 172 variety as well? Might be more resistant to leaking when lowered?

[/wishful thinking]

ive got sportslines on my full fat 172 mk2 with 17"s and as usuall they didnt drop anywere near what was quoted but the car handels better and ride quality is very good. theres lots of speed bumps around here and its fine, i would recomend them to anyone who doesnt want to go down too much!

:) Just bad luck I imagine. If it happened on all Clio's they wouldn't sell them.

Hi there,

May i ask how many mm does it drop?

Cheers,
