Whining noise :-(

  Black Ph2 172
Hi guys,

The other night I started noticing a whining noise when I'm driving above 30 mph - the noise gets higher pitched when I speed up and lower when I speed down. I only get this noise when I am moving (when revving the car at a standstill it is non-existent).

It is booked in at my local Renault dealership for tomorrow but thought I would see if anybody has any idea as to what it could be?

Cheers,

Andy

Supercharger?

I had a similar noise from my 182. I believe it was a metallic vibration on mine though. Looked everywhere for it but couldn't work it out so bought a R27 instead.

Wheel bearing sounds likely. For the rear might as well by the bearings pressed into the disc and change urself for 140ish.

Front wheel bearings buy seperate and ask a garage to press it in. Job done and still not expensive.

Easiest way to find out, is jack the car up, and see if u can wobble the wheels and feel for play.

Also while your down there check the cv joint gaiters, for splits or see if the clip has come loose. Might be running dry cv joints.

Wheel bearing for 140ish?

I got a bearing for £18 and a garage to press the old one out and put the new one back in for £15, all back together for £33:dead:

Thought from the title that you must have met my lass. Now that I read the thread I realise that I was wrong...
