Whining speakers

I recently installed a second amp for my 6x9s and since I put it in there has been a terrible whining noise that changes with the revs of the car, that comes from the 6x9s.

It is really bugging me so I was hoping someone might be able to give me some advice!

is the power lead running close to the alternator as it can pick up interference. other than that it could be a poor earth.

Is the power cable next to the rcas? Is the earth point the same as the other one? Your getting interference from the alternator.

I have used the bolt where the seatbelt is attached to the car.

It is a possibilty, heard it myself. However now a lot of rcas come shielded from it so makes less difference.

nope the noise has nothing to do with the rcas being to close to the power.

Why did it disappear when the leads were moved apart then, notijng else changed? Just curious!

not sure but i read the info about it on talk audio and it went really in depth but the end it was found that having them next to each other would not cause interference.

1 q though did you move them further away from the metal work of the car???

Cant remember to be honest, it was actually to prove a point to a mate and it worked, see if thats true ive wasted hours of my life running them down opposite sides! Seems strange that soooo many people and companys reccomend it if its not true

well i put them down the same side of a couple of cars (two of them my own) and never had the slightest hint of whining.

Odd! Ah well. MattyK if I were you first thing I would do would be to make sure that both are earthed in the same place and that it is a good earth- bare metal

All u need to do is run the audio lead down one side of the car and the power lead down the other side. Might take some work but it will be worth it. If leads must cross, ensure u cross them at 90 degrees to each other: this stops them inducing current in each other.

the you would know that any induced current in the rca would be equal on each lead in side each rca, thus producing an equal pd on each lead so in turn would cause no affect
