Whiplash compensation

  Clio 190bhp Hybrid

On the 7th June I was shunted from behind at a junction and did not think much of it, with damage to the rear bumper and passenger side tail light.

Woke up the following two days feeling sick and with back pain and resulted in 2 weeks off work, having to lay down in bed which wrecked my 30th and summer basically.

Not been able to play footie since and back still isnt right but specialist has said should be back to normal in 6-9 months.

Basically what compensation would you expect from such an accident. Solicitors put in charge by Esure are saying £1750 is most I should expect but have heard from friends of family woth claims of £2500 and £3000 for similar.

Anyone else had compensation for similar injuries and if so what did they manage to get? Im not freedy but dont trust solicitors and insurers as dont they get something for everything they save in paying out?

Thanks in advance for any help. I have searched google but just get companies for claims and not examples of claims.

My mate got about £2k, he also heard he could of got more.. Being a typical uni student he spent it all in a few months!

For whats it worth i think its a bit unfair for the other party to squeeze every last penny, bearing in mind their insurance will go up quite a bit with a claim like that..?

And thats something to be proud of?

How about you f**k off back to the stone you crawled out from?

I hope someday someone "fakes" a claim on your insurance!

Why?

What was the point?

Hate people who claim when they have nothing to claim for!

You just put everyone insurance up next year!

Exactly.

I hate the ooh my back hurts crew.

My cousin is one of them. Insurance is far too expensive as it is without this americanised screw them for every penny you can attitude.

Yeah thats why we cant get insured on fast cars with t\/\/ats like you. Americans have it sorted on insurance and petrol. The lawnmowers over there start with 2.5v6 engines and avergae cars have 5.0 v8s and cost no more to fill up than a 1.5dci in england. Fair enough if you have whiplash but if you dont your just f*cking it up for everyone else.

I was taking to a mate about this the other day. Hes got a claim for whiplash (a false one) and they have told him to expect 1500 - 2000 as they dont pay out as much these days cause everyones at it.

it is wrong but are you lot saying you wouldnt claim if you were involved in an accident that wasnt your fault? Seriously?

Id be very tempted if it happened to me, simply because most people have at some point given the chance so why shouldnt I be a few quid better off if it happened to me.

i wouldnt say things like that on a forum....

as liam correctly pointed out it is obtaiing money by deception..ie you have decieved the insurance company,..also you could have your doctors/specialist professionalism brought to question, probably leading to civil action....

As to my claim, was just wondering what was normal as I dont think you can really put a price on the pain I suffered for 2 weeks and quality of life reduction by missing out on a summer and not being able to partake in sports or social activities I would usually. Had a track day with 5 laps in a ferrari, porche, scooby and elise bought for my birthday and not been able to use it yet. Plus the unconfidence I now feel in driving due to the accident.

Guess time will heal but was gauging others as have heard of deals between insurance companies/solicitors to lower claims and screw the victims of such accidents for their own gain.

There are scumbags out there - sometimes asylum seekers, who pack 5 into a car and slam the brakes on in front of you giving you no chance of stopping. 5 x £5000 payouts, not bad, IF YOURE A PARASITE!

j3ned - you make me sick pal. You sound like the kind of parasite who will be unfit to work when youre 40 because youre faking a bad back.

Realisticaly you will get approx £2-2.5k if your injuries etc are as described. The payments are made via your solicitor based on previous cases with very similiar injuries etc..I expect he will look into similiar cases to give him a rough idea of payouts acceptable.

Thanks Mike. Really unsure so was asking advise. Solicitor was trying to tell me to wait till next year and claim as the longer it is the more money you get. Think that is wrong to do that. Specialist says I should be OOK in 6-9 months so hope so. Just really need to try and go to the gym, ride my bike and play footie again but havent wanted to risk injuring back or neck again.

3 months of inactivity is really peeving me off and lost out on enjoying the summer but hopefully will get a way somewhere nice with the money to make up for it.

Matty dont let ppls opinions of compo put you off, if you have whiplash then make a claim, simple as that, its why u pay for legal protection bollox and why should u be in pain for months coz of some f**kers stupid driving.

on the other hand if u dont have it, dont be a bum. please dont make a claim.

i got shunted in the back when i was stationary outside a school!! i had whiplash and its a f**king pain in the arse, i was a waiter, and made my job harder than it was already! i wasnt allowed to play on the school footie team coz the head new about my crash, and the sunday league team we very specitical of letting me play matches coz somtimes i had to come off due to neck playing up  i actally did make a claim got £1500 in the end, which is nothing to put my nose upto, paid for my first year through uni.

but like i actually said i did have whiplash and f**king hated it, was sh*tting my pants when they said i should have an ex-ray.

its not the best feeling in the world just being in a car crash and your neck and lower parts of your back are f**ked up.

my fault for driving a old mark 3 fiesta (i was wearing selt belt!) or is it the old bloke who drove into the back of me while i was stationary, and he was doing 40mph outside a school!

The average is about 1500 quid for whiplash, i was paid out for whiplash when someone drove straight into the back of my cossie and i had two weeks off work, its still not right now and i suffer with a lot of back ache and take a lot of co-proxamols.

As for claiming if you arent actually injured its wrong but i do understand why people do it i have been paying insurance for nearly 15 years and the cossie was my first claim, if i wasnt really injured would i have taken the opportunity anyway to get back some of the money the robbing mailto:b@stards">b@stards have been taking off me for years ?? Now theres a dilemma for you........

Am sorry to everyone for being so abusive but come on! Its like everyone on this forum giving him a £1 for him to p!ss it up against a wall! not for a good cause!

j3ned. What car did you have that was hit? Have you got a new car now? Did the insurance pay you well?

£3500 wahooh - all that money. Cant wait for someone else to hit my car again.

"wahooh - all that money"???? its only a weeks wages mate, not that much at all really is it..??;)

Simon.

although i dont agree with with what j3ned did, i can hardly blame him. Ive only been driving 2 years and already coffed up £2500 to insurance companies and touch wood not made one claim.

Like a lot of people, i hope to not have to make an insurance claim so in the time it would take to build up 9 years NCB id probably end up paying 10k to insurance companies and not seeing a penny in return. However, theres some aweful drivers out there which is why insurance costs so much as it is. From what i can see j3ned simply got an insurance rebate... and fair play that man!

Yeah but if people in UK didnt make millions of pounds a year in false claims than insurance wouldnt be so high in the first place...

Scenic RX4 - still got it - £3500. Why not take the money ? the insurance companies will carry on putting premiums up no matter what. I have worked for an insurance company in the past and i know how the system works. We live in rip off Britain as for as im concerned - they have ripped me off for 15 years so i am ripping them off. If you dont like it ....... tough.

Insurance companies wont LOWER premiums if you dont claim though. I feel like i get raped everytime i renew my insurance, so whats the biggy with returning the favour ;)

Especially when you look at people like connor who have had their insurance voided for absolute bollox. Insurance is the biggest fooking con about, why try and protect them.

i dont agree with making false claims! because morally its wrong.

but i dont like how alot of you target ppl who make comp claims as being the soul problem of preimums going up.

firsty.... lets no forget all those who crash there cars through dangrous driving! and also lets not forget the huge amounts of surplus profits insurance companys make each year.

and dont give me that bollox that they actually make a loss, if u think that then u havnt got a clue!

i would list a number of facts about how much insurance companys are making each year. but i have this numerous number of times and my post will just get ignored.

  CLIO

it not the claiming that makes the insurance go up, its the half witts that drive around with no insurance that does it, i had some refugee clip the back of me last year, couldnt speak english and said he had no insurance so my mate jumped out and lamped the f#cker

After my accident im waiting for the insurence comapnies to come to a decission, when they decide it wasnt my fault imn suing them for every f**king penny i can get.

They wrecked my pride and joy, i loved that car, more then alot of my girlfriends, it was an N reg, and had only done 20k miles, and i had spend sh*t loads of time doign it up and working on it, and countless hundfreds of pounds, all lost.....and all the danage they got on their car was a scratch in the bumper - w**kerS

Yes i know this will piss alot of people off, but yes i will exagerate my injuries, at the end of the day it was blatently their fault, they prolly have protected no claims, so they arent gonna loose anything by claming on their insurence.

Sorry back on topic, igve heard of people getting several thousand pounds for very little injuries,m try giving on of these no win no fee companiesa a ring

I got whiplash from sneezing while driving. I hit the brakes as i sneezed causing a painful jar to my neck but i cudnt be arsed to sue myself for
2-2500.

It f*ckin hurts though and i only had it mildly. I can understand how people want to milk the insurance companys as they rob us. I would be tempted but unless i was genuinely hurt i think id resists claiming. Its the same with benifits. People milk them by havin this that and the other wrong with them yet there fine and doing quite well for themselves as they probably sell cars on the side and have a cash in hand job.

I can even see why people drive without insurance as its way cheaper and you can drive woteva car you want. I dont agree with it but i can see how people would get p****d of after been in a smash and then having there new insurance quote for twice the value of their car. Someone who i kinda know but dont like claims money for been partly blind and still drives his car that isnt insured. Hes also 20,000 in debt with no plan to pay it back and his wife is pregnant. Its people like him who are the scum of the earth!!
