whistle sound when accelerator is pressed.

Car  172 cup
Done 1000 mile round trip this past week and sometimes noticed a whistle type sound that seemed to only sound when the accelerator is pressed. It only seemed to do it on the motorway too. Short town runs didn't have the sound. Maybe I'm going mad and need a hearing aid maybe not? any ideas?

By the sounds of it it only happens at high speed and its a whistling sound, so I'd be thinking its something exterior catching the wind.

I accidentally left my radio ariel up after washing the other day and heard similar sounds to what your describing, a swift nudge back into place and all was good LOL

I get that sound anyway, i told my mrs it was da v tec yo. My instructors car had it too... Not the V-tec, the whistling

i have a sound like that when i accelerate and there is a crack under the clamp on the cat pipe

new exhaust when i get paid, yay.

ill have to check the exhaust then.
definitely not something whistlein in the wind as its only when you push the accelerator.

same, only thing i can think of is a pulley been done up to tight? but i havent change or touched any of the for ages!

Its probably your drivers side wing mirror. Theres a small hole underneath that makes the whistle, Bit of blue take usually sorts it. Try that.

I had this on my Citroen C2 VTS it was the air manifold i done a long trip and it started then. all i had to do it tighten the nuts on the back on the manifold i believe 8 in total

i would check them!!!!!

If it was the exhaust, surely you would hear it during 'short town runs' as well. You'd be reaching the same amount of revs through the gears and it makes no difference to the exhaust if you're traveling faster.
