Whistling CAT - Part 2

  RB 182 FF
Hi,

As some of you may remember I posted a thread on here about repairing my Mani-CAT join and CAT-Centre join to stop the exhaust blowing which was noticeable through a whistling past 3k rpm.

Whilst doing this work we discovered a hairline crack in the cat/centre join which was welded up. Whistling stopped all good, well the whistling has now returned and I am concerned that the crack has reappeared.

Two things:
1 - Is the crack likely to have occured again?
2 - If yes should I weld it up again and if so what can I do to stop it re-occuring, I take it it's happening due to some strain on the join but not sure how.
3 - Do I need a new CAT - they are apparently 2k from Renault according to people on here.......I take it a scrappy/parts reseller is my best bet?

I must admit I have had enough of the whole exhaust system having replaced various parts of it over the last few months - next month I am getting a Janspeed Exhaust to stop the backbox rotting/blowing but will not go down the route of de-cat/sports cat as I don't want any other problems.

Any advice would be great - kind of wish I bought a 172 which seems to be much chepear to replace the exhaust on.....

Cheers
