Whistling noise from engine

  Lots of Alfas
When idling I can hear my engine whistling, kind of sounds like a bird. What is it, anything serious?

Its the 1.2 D7F engine.

BUMP, anyone? Had a look in haynes manual and mentions a leaking gasket or vacuum hose. Can it be that serious, it isnt that loud and there has been no loss in performance.

I think its the passenger side in the engine compartment and seems to be quite low down too.

it's normal mate. don't worry.

when you're driving and you back off the throttle, they do it then as well. you just can't hear it.

Sounds like the same problem that i had and its the bottom tensioner. Well it was on mine anyway. Mine kinda sounded like a whistling noise but turned out to be the bearing in the tensioner whining but iyts a high pitch whine

Get it checked cos if the seizes it snaps the aux belt which in turn rattles the timing belt and it can jump causing :dead:

Yeah its the clutch thrust bearing, if I move the clutch fork with my hand on the front of the engine it doesnt do it. Its nothing serious and only does it when its really cold and damp, Im leaving it until it needs a new clutch.
