Hi,

ive been playing about with the idea of a colour change for my 182, it is a road car, used every day, but is a low miler only 12K. Ive saw a few cars on here painted white, but generally these are all for track use or competition use, i would like to at some stage prepare mine for track use also but at the minute i need a car every day so have to keep the interior. Has any one saw any white road cars or would i be mad to do this?? the car is currently black gold with cup packs! my idea is white with the cup wheels painted red, the same as r26r? opinions please!!

Would look mint, but no one will buy it if you ever decide to sell.

used everyday, and only has 12k on it?

im not really considering resale because im planning to strip it out, cage, n the full works in a couple of years.

i get bored very easy and white to me sounds good because its different.

i only live 500 mtrs from work, so walk there, just use it to go to the gf house n bak, approx 8 miles per day!! + wkends.

Do it, theres a few about but they look brilliant imo, especially with the cup packed darker wheels and nice and low!

It will look awsome in white but thats a really low mileage example you have. Seems a shame to soil it

Also full respray arent cheap

This..

How much would it cost to wrap a clio out of curiosity?

your talking easily 1k i reckon, but i very much doubt that includes door shuts, under bonnet etc whereas if its srayed you would tend to get the lot done. but then again that is the 1k difference between wrapping and spraying. obviously prices i have stated are only estimates and vary hugely from place to place.

I was expecting to hear this, i know its low mileage but the way i look at it is that i know what ive got with this car, if i sold it to buy one with more miles to paint white i could end up with a real lemon, this way i know ive got a good car and can have it the way i want.

ive got a mate with a body shop, when im getting stuff painted, i do all the prep work and he then finish paints it for me. Saves a lot of money and when i look at the finished product i know ive hand a hands on part to play in the result.

Not sold on the idea of wrap??

Am i being thick or is it basically just a sticker??:S If it got chipped would it not buble if water got in there??

Think it's decision made, this has 99% sold it to me, white is the way to go!! that cars amazing!! why did renault never release1??

Personally, I think with contrasting black bits - it looks ace. :approve:

I would probably even get the side strips done black - have the 2.0 16V writing in white on black background - leave the wing mirrors black and possibly have the boot spoiler in black as well - just to break up the whiteness a little?

Should have been a factory colour from the offset, imo.

Because at the Time the 172/182s were released white wasnt the "IN" color, at the time no one was buying white cars because they were unfashionable.

Now mainly due to the Apple and such technologies white is in fasion, cars are never designed in white or designed to work in white.

Personally i think 182s in white dont really work, they don't have the crisp lines that audis/bmws have to pull of with. The 197 looks nice in white because it has strong lines.

1k would be less than a full prof (read proper) respray surely?

Have it wrapped in white because then the orignal paint work is protected more from rubbish out there. Also with a wrap if you become bored of the blankness of it you can peel just peel the vinyl off instead of paying a couple of thousand out for another spray.

why would it not sell jsut becuase its white, i would buy a white sport they look mint, if the car is in good shape colour is least off your worries.

also do it with the read wheels would look sweet.

A wrap will cost you roughly the same as a body respray!
(closed doors, bonnet & hatch)

But err. do it... Do it... DO IT! ! !

In Pearlwhite!

a mate of mine had his 182 sprayed white last year with various black touchs now traded it in an the chap at the garage is strugglin to get rid but like i said his is not all white so maybe the black touchs put people off?

This really works for me!! white clio's are mint. I would like the wheels the anthracite colour tho! imo.

This really makes me wana get the car stripped out ready for paint!!:D

It does look mint in white no doubt, but painting your Clio white is like fitting turinis.

Why not think of an original colour? :)

very true!! white is the IN thing!! maybe something like alien green would be more unique but its a personal choice. i dont know if i could live with the green every day. imo!!

i am planning to prep it for tracks in a couple of years so if it is already white all i have to is the prep work. my idea for colour scheme is white with red or orange.

Looks amazing in white I must admit! I'd go for it if you can afford to get it done perfectly..

@RS182Lancs.. How much did that set you back, that's if it wasn't done before you purchased it?

I don't really get the white as being an 'in' or 'fashionable' comments. It's always been a good colour throughout the years. Old Porsche 2.7's, Escort series 1 RS Turbos, Honda Civic Type-R's and NSXs. Even my dad's Fiesta 1.4S back in the day was white - lol!

Mines in my garage stripped at the min and prepped ready to paint! Best of all its cost me £170 for 5l of Glacier white and thats it! Just waiting for the window man to come and whip the windows out as we speak then mask the windows up and away we go! Glacier white supercharged 172, mmmmmm, cant wait! Also mines an everyday car too, the only car I own.

It has but it's only really the last 2 or 3 years that white has come back in a big way. The Porsche GT3, Audi, Ford ST / RS to name 4 but there's lot of other examples where white is used more and more. :approve:
