White wheel sealants

Im looking at getting some wheel sealant for a new set of wheels ive got coming. these will have been freshly refurbished in white and want to keep them looking as white for as long as possible.
Been reading up a bit on this and looks like the choices are either chemguys wheel gaurd, or FK 1000p. I presume with them being sealants it doesnt matter on the application product colour.

any others to consider or why i should choose one over the other? I also have some dodo red mist, but this wont cope half as well as a decent wheel sealant? am i correct?

*waits for JD*

Hi,

The two products you've listed are fine. However, there are more out there. Poorboys Wheel Seal is very good as well, as is the GTechniq C5.

Best thing, after a respray there is likely to be a few contaminants in the paint, so wash, clay, spray with a fallout remover, polish with a very light abrasive polish and then seal with one of the above.

Simple fact is that well looked after wheels, like Gophers, will still go slightly yellow. You will just have to cut them back once or twice a year, perhaps more if you do a few miles. But as long as you protect them well enough, it will never be permanent.

You'll be forever cleaning them. If you wax them regularly then you'll never need to use APC or such like.

Mine are past the point of no return now, it's Wheel Brightener or nowt! ha!

Send Christopher a PM.

His wheels always look minty mint in the pics I see.

Yeah i was thinking about that, or see if he posted in here. also crossed my mind that last time I saw his wheels they were a bit yellow.

thanks, only have one other question. Im not sure what you mean by a fallout remover?

Yeah i know, ive thought for the past 3 month what colour. Now i hope ive made the right choice and hope they'll look decent. I will be cleaning them every second though as dirt will show up so fast but thats the joy. I just want to be able to get some soapy water on the wheels and there back to being new. no scrubbing or anything.

Only thing to be wary off is the possiblity of certain waxes causing the wheels to go a bit yellowy in colour.

I've seen a few that were quite bad due to lots of wax discolouring the wheels. The only thing I can see though is that it reacts with certain lacquers somehow as it is not very uniform with all white wheels.

It's actually the heat Richy, not the waxes, unless you've heard otherwise.

A fall out remover is just that - it removes crap from the sky ;) Look into AutoSmart Fallout remover or the IronX product.

I use the IronX and words cant explain how good this stuff is. Only downside is that some people may think its too expensive for the size bottle you get and you cant dilute it. Plus it reeks like one of those egg bombs in a glass capsule you used to buy when you was a kid. :D

Hmm good point actually I totally forgot that..my old one had white wheels on for a about a year and it was the rears that started to yellow up..I suppose they could of been on the front of the previous owners car..I cant quite remember but I think my fronts had just poorboys on and the rears had colli 476..I just put it down to the ingredients in colli, especially as the fucker stinks of petrol or similar!

Oddly enough colli also seemed to dull my old amphasite ones too, I did a half and half test with that planet polish stuff to see how long the planet polish lasted for the half I put colli on the lacquer was dulled in places...it could just of been coincidence tho of course...im no scientist
