Who does 194 40 R17’s. HELP!!

Guys et gals,

Yep you are right!! When I put on 205 40 R17"s on the CUP, I miscalculated and knackered the gearing!!!

Sooooo, I need a 194 40 R17 for the CUP to keep the gearing the same. Someone on here must have gone up to that size to keep the gearing the same. My local tyre man says all 17"s start at 205. So I am either F*****d or someone has a solution for me.

Any ideas and/or contact numbers???

Its 195 not 194 and it wouldnt affect the gearing as that number denotes the width of the tire.

What you need is a lower profile tire not a narrower one, instead of 40 profile you need 35, e.g. 205/35/17 in effect you will have the same diamater wheel and tire combo as the 195/45/16 you had as standard.

Sorry it was a typo!!!. I Meant 195!

But no one does a 205/35/17. To get to 35, I they will be 225/35/17.

Any ideas anyone or the 17" White Turinis with SO3"s are toast!!!!

172Cup, pm geordiepaul he had the same problem and now hes got 195/40/17 on his Turinis, when he had the 205s on he said his car was about 10car lengths slower than Cuppy172.

pirelli do 195/40/17s and afaik there the only company to do em in that size

cant expect they be cheap tho

carlouk-the profile of the tyre is a pecentage of the width so a 195/40/17 with have a smaller overall diameter than a 205/40/17 so it will make a differance

just a quickie. the 40 section of the tyre size is the percentage of the total width. as in with 205/40 the side wall is 40% of the 205? Therefore, 195/40 would have smaller sidewalls?

if you check powerdog.com there is a tyre size calculator on there

Hi

I have just got some 195/40R17s They are Pirelli P-zero nero and are about £90 each. They arent a perfect match for the original but are considerably better than the 205/40R17.

If you want a perfect match then you need 215/35R17 (pirelli and continental do these) but they are about £110 each and they will rub on a cup with 17" with an offset of ET35 though ET42 should be fine.

I havent put mine on yet so I cant comment on theyre performance.
