  RenaultSport clio 182 mk2
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/127782.htm

Heres my advert on pistonheads and its also on autotrader and the for sale section here, but i haven't managed to sell her yet. I've had a couple of enquiries but nothing serious, just wondering if there were any suggestions which would help me sell it. Personally i think the price is good, and the car is immaculate, its like new!!!

How long has it been up for sale? Patience sometimes mate, a car doesnt always sell in 5 minutes, depends on what kind of buyers you get, some can be real picky! I think you are advertising it in the right places mate definately, I wouldnt suggest ebay, you will get ridiculous offers on it then! I think the price is pretty much spot on and yes it is immaculate, just be patient dude it will sell!

If it was next year i would buy it!! I know that's no good to ya but people are just recovering from xmas, hold out love and someone will buy her!!

When i look at buying cars, i must say that it puts me off the car if it has mods on, like yours has, zorts and breaks etc..... people might think its just a boy racers car, and youve ragged it all over. im not saying it has been, just a thought.

A few weeks ago i picked up a 182 immac with only 12,000 miles for £8850... also, i wouldnt touch a tarted up one like that and i think a lot of other people think that way too.

Was going to say the same, i'd only ever buy a standard car.

its weird though with car ads, i thought id only buy a standard car.. but now i wish i had already bought one with the mods ive paid to do.. would have been cheaper. and the thing about ''modified cars may have been ragged all day''

you see cars with 'one careful lady owner' - why is that a good thing?

when you think about it, it would be better to buy a car thats been well looked after, cleaned, polished, serviced properly, allowed to warm up, driven hard, cooled down.. than one owned by a woman who hasnt looked after i, has been driving it round like a granny slipping the clutch all the time, has left food etc all over the interior and only ever cleaned it once before its sold.

after being in various female friends cars.. id DEFINATELY never buy a car thats had ''one lady owner'' i dont see that as a good point..

The problem is that yes, we all know on here how well our cars that have been modified have been taken care of, however people that arent on here (which i assume could be a lot of people) would automatically assume modified cars are ragged, personally i wouldnt buy a modified car either, because i like to know that ive taken it to a place i trust, and ive done necessary aftercare for it. I think that be many peoples worries

well its been up for sale for 2 weeks now, i've set myself until the end of february to try and sell it so not too desperate yet! I have considered taking all the mods off, which isn't a lot when you think about it, eg exhaust, decat, lowering springs. Like you've said its annoying due to me making sure that my car is always immaculate etc,and it is a fantastic car. I'll just have to sit tight!! Thanks for all your help.

i have the same problem too. im selling mine, but not putting it up till march, im making it all standard to widen my market (albeit i have a larger target not being an RS, so demodifying would make a bigger difference)

I agree that the mods might put people off. I doubt I would buy a car that has been modified, but I may consider if I bought it off of someone on here who I know has looked after it. But the average person in the public won't think that's it's been washed/polished etc, been perfectly cared for, they'll just see the mods and automatically assume it's been drivem by a boy racer, which isn't always the case!

I wouldn't really want to buy a car of of most women either, I've seen how lots of women treat their cars. Can't be bothered to wash it, kerb the alloys and generally don't give a s**t. They think because it's not been driven hard then it's in good condidtion. My mum being the perfect example!

But there are exeptions, my car has been looked after properly, as I'm sure many of the other girls on here have.

looks a good car but as people have said, ud have a better chance selling it standard. also.. my bf picked up a march 05 reg 182 with 28k 3 weeks ago for £8,350, is ures a year older? price doesnt seem too bad considerng the mods but again, most people prefer it standard, dont think ud have any prob shifting it if u sold it standard for 8k?

  PH1_172
Its a shame but people will mainly buy it if its standard down to there thinking modified = boy racer ragging it.

Personally id buy a moddifed car no problems if i couldnt find enough out about the car and if they where are member off forums and owners clubs as hopefully they'd be enthusiasts.

Also when buying a performance car sometimes its not good to get one that has never been opened up as when you do open it up the engine could s**t its self and go bang anyway, a friend of ours bought a rs escort cosworth genuine 30K miles and 1 owner never been taken over 4k revs, when our friend had it he let it warm up oils etc an then opened it up few days latter done them same smoke everywhere after acceleration the turbo had blow it selas all over the show. The RS specialist said it was due to the car leading a to perfect under used life.

"When you see it has mods people assume it's been driven by a boy racer"

...In all fairness, how many people buy decats and uprated brakes just for the point of it?? It's obviously been driven hard at points.

Still that's not the point. I would never buy a car with mods, as you don't know who's done the work, what's really been done, etc etc. There can be difficult insurance implications too.

  RenaultSport clio 182 mk2
Well the reason its up for £8250 is due to me not wanting to sell it for any less than 8k so if anyone wants to offer me that price then i would take it. I still have all the original parts for the car so may start puting them back on if i don't have any success in the next couple of weeks!

Definately put it back to standard mate - as most people have been saying, it'll make the car more attractive to the general punter, plus you'll probably make more money selling on your mods seperately via the classifieds on here or ebay.

I put my car back to standard when I changed to the Civic, but that was different cos I was trading it in and knew I'd be able to sell my H&Rs and filter no probs.

Good luck with the sale :)

I wouldn't buy a modded Clio 182 (or any car for that matter) you just make yourself look like a boyracer/c**t and it puts people off.

  RB 182 FF/ CUP PACKS
The only mods that would put me off are the springs (what's wrong with std Cup Pack springs) and the induction kit. Price is a little high, but not so high I wouldn't try to negotiate with you. The real killer for a lot of people is your location, IMO. I live in North Wales, and unless I'm pretty damn sure the car is going to be right there's no way I'm driving 4 hours to see it ! I'm sure it'll sell given time though. If my 911 goes soon I may give you a ring !

You just need to find the right person mate, it took me about 3 months to sell my 172 which at the time was completely mint and the first person fo view it, bought it.
In my mind, if its been modified it depends on the person whose selling it as to whether I thought the car was ragged.

You can't tell me that every 172/182 hasn't been revved high regularly and driven hard. Everyone says on here 'the engine can take it all day every day' as long as its maintained. By the looks of this car, although modded its been very well looked after.

People will gauge it on the look of the car and when you get someone to view it, i'm sure it'll sell. :D

  182
wrong time to sell, i had my up from sale from sep till december not 1 offer had 32k fulll service histry, box standard body work emaculate wheels scuffed had for 7,500 and no one even asked about it, loads of people say thats mint whyu selling it etc

Dont wish to repeat what others have said but it is worth saying it again and again and again just to ram it home to anyone thinking of doing it themselves.

As soon as I see the word "mods" I would immediately click the "back" button and look at the next car.

I think very many people would think twice about buying a used hot hatch full stop because they are in the main driven hard by young men. When you see "mods" mentioned it just confirms your fears. Hardly anyone buys a hot hatch to drive slowly but absolutely no one would spend money modding it unless they are going to rant the balls off it to get that little extra out of it.

Yes there are a few people that wouldn't be put off but only a few and they are often all mouth and a bit short on backing it up with hard cash. I reckon 90% of potential buyers would be turned off immediately.

My advice is drop the price and put as much back to standard as possible.

  Arctic 182
Cobra springs and K&N are going to put people off. Back to standard as most have said, maybe leave the exhaust on.

When i see posts like this, just makes me want July 12th to come quicker :( lol (when i get my 2 years NCB and can get insured on 182 :))

I'm afraid i'm going to agree with most of the comments on this thread, i prefer standard.

Why not take off the most obvious mods and dont mention the others in the ad, if its someone who knows what they're looking for they'll prob ask if its been modified, if its someone who doesn't how will they know!

  172 cup
it looks like a boy racers car, and who has heard of cobra springs

i would always buy a standard car and modyfy myself

  Less
colour doesn't help either mate, Arctic is probably the most common 182 colour available. I'm in the market for a 182 at present but want the Racing Blue one.

  RS RIP
wow, lot of good reactions already eh !?

I also think the mods will put a lot o people off, including me.

However when your not in a hurry you will probably sell it, like said before; it's a bad time of the year !

  Bye Bye 182....
because you can get a 04 182 with less miles and both cup packs for between 7500 and 8000 now. Lower your price a bit and the buyers will start calling.

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
also add a couple of interior pics. I click back if I cant see inside the car.
