Why do you like you Clio

LOL:D......You made that up about deleting the post;)

Its easy when side by side comparing the difference, all i was trying to say is that a quick glance in the rear view mirror and the average person would just think it was a normal clio.

I think its the other way round.. I often see Dynamiques and think they are 172s (not for long, but, if they are in the distance..).. altho, if i see a 172/182 I always know its a 172/182.

Er.. I think that makes sense.

Same here Daz... Its always the Black Dynamiques that fool me from a distance.... black doesnt show the lines of the car off very well, hence its harder to tell them apart...

i love my 172! and all the bits on it

but at my age is costing me 2 much insurance and running costs so want something cheaper

would love to be in a postion to keep it and wont regret owning it when i sell it!

In the past year ive had a £15000 CTR, a £10000 scooby and now a £16000 LCR225. The year before i had a new ZR160 which cost £15500

Im sure i could have saved my dinner money for a clio matey:oops:

Take the sport badge off a 172/cup and how would you know the difference from the rear?

From the side a silver 2.0 badge gives it away and it has 16alloys instead of wheel trims. Ive seen plenty of 1.2 clios with alloys though.

From the front it takes a trained eye to spot the splitter.

Not many features there matey. The 182 is a bit better as it has the twins.

£16000 for a leon , you dumbass. sure it seems like you have lots of money but no sense. ohh and a 182 is faster to 60 and faster around the track than your leon.

Leons are for people who cant afford a FocusRS or a 147GTA or and R32 etc.. just like the clio 182 is for people who cant afford to spend 16K on a car and have other things on their life.

yes the 172/182 are dated and flawed but as far as a compromise goes its a brilliant one IMO

ohh and why the hell are you on this forum if you think clios are sh*te ? id like to say feck off but i wont, everyone is entiltled to their opinion and you do make some good points.

The fact that it has a completly dif bumper that is 100% colour codded and it aint got the big ass black strip on it..... And the sport versions have a spoiler

And the Sport has sideskirts on it........

And the front has a larger bumper where the line of the lights flow into it, and has a dif grill.... And once again the non sport has the big black bump strip on the front and isnt colour coded

Ill not even respond to your silly reply mate, ive already said the clio is very good (performance/handling/value), but personally i dont like the looks that much. Nothing wrong with that is there?

I was on the hunt for a new car after selling my scooby. The car i wanted returned silly insurance quotes so had to come back to hothatch. Considered 182 and CTR, didnt like the looks of the 182 and it is french;) so that went out the window,I was all poised to go back to the CTR but the leon caught my eye, looks a lot better, better equipped and has excellent tuning capabilities. I would say its a bit more classy than a clio 182 aswell, but thats just my opinion. I couldnt give a monkeys chuff if a 182 is faster round a track than an LCR, i didnt buy it for that matey. When am i ever going to take my car on a track? never!!

Your just jelous coz you cant afford one.

Is it me talking b****cks or you?

WTF are you on about matey, youve lost me.

Go back to school and learn how to spell;)

I understand the point you are trying to make Mitchy, but can you not concede that by your logic, a Leon FR looks similar to a Cupra TO THE UNTRAINED EYE? Of course they do. Becuase they are the same car!! It might have slighlty different bumpers and bigger wheels, but thats the same difference between the Clios. Not a lot, but just enough!!

Let him talk bollox.Hes like scatman Joe,he obvioulsy likes talking sh*t,and cant make his mind up with what he wants to say.:)

I knew that 1 would come out, its just my opinion mate. Even a couple of your own have said about confusion with dynamiques from a distance. I doubt youd be able to do that with the FR and LCR, but who knows to the untrained eye.

182 sport...how old are you? Should you not be having a nap?

Its you whos bringing this thread down. Would you care to tell me what sh*t i am supposedly waffling?

The 1 about the 1.2 clio looking similar to its big brother, yeah thats really talking sh!te. Of course there are differences, all im saying is that its not that noticable.

  VaVa

Black LCR and Black FR?? Quite easy to mix up in the blink of an eye. Same with CTRs at a glance. In fact it applies to most cars with sporty versions...

Erm...calm down ladies! ;)

All valid points here i think - the cars do look loads different but, ill agree that to your ordinary know nothing member of the public, you could get confused between models if you just caught a breif glimpse. Its a perception thing TBH, 90% of clios (low models) are relatively slow in comparision to the a lot of the car population so people dont make the distinction that there can actually be quick rather than tarted up versions. This isnt just limited to your 1.2/172 agruement - us 16v/willy owners can get despite the big bonnet bulge and probably so do any hothatches that come from basic/lower spec ranges.

Okay matey, enjoy;)

Good point U33db. Youve hit the nail on the head with your reply, just what i was trying to say.

Looks is a personal thing, but i like the looks of the 182 i think it looks sporty but not too over the top.

I think people who dont know much about cars will just think the cliosports are just standard clios.

Mitchey how come you have had so many cars in the last couple of years? do you get bored of them easily, it must cost you a fortune keep changing them

Back on topic! I like mine because when i was old enough to have petrol running thru my veins the car of the moment was the williams and i always said i would have one one day, they look so cool and is still the bench mark for any current hot hatch. Ive not bought one as yet but will do when i can afford to have a weekend toy! At the moment ive got a mrk1 172 which i love to bits and think it as being the evolution of the williams but the old willy will never be beaten! Her ewe are over ten years down the line and still this car is getting mentioned in every new hot hatch review! The next purchase will be a V + an Sti 7 impreza, oh and a mint willy 1. Just hope i win the lottery!

Im with Mitchy on this one :)confused: )
There really isnt that much difference between the 1.2/4/6 and the 172 to the untrained eye....

I agree, plus the general public (that are not petrol heads) seem to know very little abouts cars, For example, I have had a few people that have to come over to my car and said "awesome mate, did put that body kit on yourself"?????? , of course I did and while I was at it I put the engine in the back also....lol

To the untrained eye all other 2 door clikos look the same(ish), only us petrol heads can tell the difference.

i love the colour, the syle, the engine (1.6=was cheapish to ensure!), and of course becuase shes mine and i love her

I agree about there not being a massive difference between the Sports and the Sport Clios. Same with alot of modern cars, in fact the only cars Ive seen which look really different are the valver, the v6 and an Escort cossie.
