Why do you run spacers?

30mm is big IMO, get some proper pads with stock calipers (CL rc6/rc5+)

Been there and tried that, but with over 300bhp and me keen to use it very hard on trackdays they just arent upto the job. Too small and hence they overheat.

Might try some much wider but small diameter disks next, although that brings its only clearance problems too!

Never had any problems in impreza running 350hp on CL rc6, could do 45min sessions at Caldwell with no heat issues but prior to that, nothing but heat issues. (very hard use too)

Can never win can ya ;)

Subaru disks are bigger and being a heavier car you carry a bigger percentage of the speed round the bends too. So the scooby would cope far better on its standard disks than a Clio on standard disks will with similar power.

Confused?
But the scooby is terrible on standard brakes as I said earlier (nothing but heat probs)
A bigger heavier car will put more strain on brakes and cause heat issues and will not go round corners quicker than a lighter car (both set up well)
A lighter car will be easier on brakes and WILL corner faster (depending how well set up)
My mx5 track/race car would eat my old scooby round corners but not on straights obviously.
So I think you have it the other way round mate ;)

You are thinking about speed not momentum (ie energy to dissipate) and a well setup scooby with its 4wd will match the corner speed of my heavier than standard 172 anyway. Mine is only 200kg lighter than a scooby and all the weight is over the front end so it's less well balanced.
Don't forget my Clio is going far quicker approaching a bend than a scooby with similar power, so I've got more mph to lose. And it's mv^2 for energy.
Plus you are forgetting the bigger disks in the first place.

its quite counter intuitive when you start looking in more detail.

Well I've fitted my spacers/wheels and all is ok, no obvious rubbing or problems and drive ok, but haven't been far or long enough to fully test but I'm pretty confident it's ok.
And my god the 172 wheels weigh a bloody ton.

As you know the stock wheels sit in quite far, so I'm pleased with how it's turned out, just right IMO.
