Yes 5 foot 10 is hardly short, im scared for your life to DOT DOT DOT.

Anyone else wanna jump on the 'I use Vista and anyone using XP and thinking its better is wrong' wagon?

I use XP Pro, thanks.

I just have used Vista in the past and, from personal experience not pub talk, i noticed no difference in speed, booting times, shutting down or FPS in games. I also didnt have any random crashes that are 99% of the time caused by user error.

Your right, logging onto Vista with my own named user account and explorer.exe crashing on a blank build was 99% my fault, well done.

Also its not Pub talk, I installed Vista first after I upgraded thinking it was the way to go, but thought I would try Xp again which is when all my games fps was far better, so I stuck with that.

on an XP start menu, you click all programs and you can see all the programs, you then locate which one you want then move the mouse directly onto it to reach it/it's submenus.

on vista you click all programs and it squashes a selection of the all programs menu into the space, so you can only see a dozen(? perhaps) and if what you want isnt there you have to click scroll then click onto your program once you find it

it is an issue that is more my fault than vistas, but heh I prefer the XP start menu.

Just switch back to classic mode then. Job done.

  Better than yours. C*nt.
AFPMSL at the 5ft10" weeman getting agressive over his Vista argument. Bless you sweetie, I bet your momma refused you her titty when you were younger.

As much as id like to blame vista for randomly freezing on me everytime i boot up, i need to put it down to system instability. Im running 3gb of ram on vista 64 again after trying to re install vista 3 times.

I've been using Vista since it was released and have had no problems with it at all....ever. I install and de install endless programs, have various hardware attached to the PC and it still plays games as well as it ever did, is as reliable as it ever was and shows no signs of crashing or slowing down. I am still on the original install too.

Just my 2 cents.

Not had any issues with vista on any install I have done with it...Of which I have done many.

People b**ch about it being a memory hog but use Photoshop more than a few times in Vista and then compare it to the loading times found in XP...Should load far far quicker in Vista due to it caching the program in ram ready to run it next for you.

Same with files and other programs. Vista learns what you use most often and then precaches those programs ready for use later. Which makes it faster. Basically it actually uses your memory rather than leaving it there doing nothing. Which makes it look like a memory hog but only because it is using it in a more efficient mannor. Not letting it sit there doing nothing.

CPU speed mine is current sat at 5% with utorrent, dreamscene and a few other programs running, MSN, Firefox, Itunes.

Wouldn't say it is a resource hog. People just jump on the Vista hate bandwagon because it wasn't great when it first came out....Neither was XP which was also a buggy crashy piece of crap when it first came out. But everyone loves it now.

Just wondering as I'm not really a computer boffin.

I'm getting a new laptop next week sometime hopefully as my desktop is about to take a dump, and will probably have have Vista on it as thats what they seem to come with these days and have never really used it, as both my computer at work and at home have XP.

Is Vista really this bad.
its only bad if your computer isnt vista capable...;]

Wait until Windows 7 is officially released and a few bugs are found in it.
Everyone will be slating it saying it's crap, it's buggy, it hogs resources etc...
Then it'll be "Vista was way better..." and the like...

Fact of the matter is, no matter how big Microsoft are, no matter how many programmers they have and no matter how much testing they do before releasing a new operating system to market - there are always going to be teething issues. It's impossible to test an operating system works flawlessly in every conceivable situation before putting it on sale.

Vista = good. 'Nuff said.

Because that was the case with Windows ME right ?

Windows Vista is like ME. Windows 7 will be the equivalent of XP. Sure windows 7 will have problems and the usual MS security issues, but it will be a damn sight better than vista.

Never been a big fan of Vista but then again I am a bit of a ludite!

Had a copy of Vista when it was in BETA for a development project at work and hated it with a passion as we could never get our software to work on it. It gave us all a headache for months.

I have been using XP since launch and still like it to this day, ok maybe it's looking a little dated now but it does the job and is quite easy to fix if things go wrong!
