Why doesn't anyone sell a replica cup splitter?

  Storm Grey 200
I was just wondering, why nobody actually sells a cup splitter, for cheaper than renault.

There must be a good demand for them, K-Tec make carbon ones, but why not just whip out a plastic one for half the price?

Nobody's probably had the idea yet, or can be arsed implementing it. I was wondering this too!

I mean Ktec are producing carbon ones, how hard can it be? Same as streamline, maybe they could make one out of glass fibre instead. Spray it black, job done.

You should do it and make millions ;)

There must be members who have access to the right gear surely??

I'd do it if I had the Gear or knew of a place taht could make them up.

I think it would need to be cheap though as the megane one you can buy looks very similar for not alot of coin

Megane is nothing compared ha, I think half the price atleast would be good.

If anyone does have facilities/contacts take one for the team :)

Here's a dumb question

What's the attraction for 'splitters'? ... and why are they called splitters?

I'm not too sure I have the ground clearance to fit one after just having the car lowered. I assume they would decrease clearance by at least an inch?

Ones like the Leon Cupra one are used to create downforce, but mainly people use them for looks. Mine's about 3cm off the floor with the splitter fitted, but is still fine going over speedbumps etc.

wasn't Fred looking to make some out of FG once?

i've had no bother with mine, but wouldn't be happy having to shell out £150 for a strip of plastic; the slightly cheaper CF alternative doesn't appeal either

Ah right. I'd guess that the little Clio ones are really cosmetic then ;)

Just seen this thread that explains a little. I like the Laguna one

You really don't ground yours with 3cm clearance? Are you more paranoid with bumps in the road than me? LOL

My front skirt has plenty of scrapes on it already, though not sure if I did them or were there when I bought the car?

So exactly what depth is a fitted splitter, or does that depend on what's fitted?

Iv been dealing in fibreglass kits for 8 yrs now, I have a share in a factory and would happily send a splitter away to get made if there was the demand. I would guarantee perfect fitment and low low prices.

how hard is it to fit this megane one? is it the right size and shape to the front of the clio bumper? and if not, which is best to go for that looks OE spec :)

I can't remember which one the thin Mégane splitter was from, but get in touch with the Renault Specialists in Accrington (I think it's Matt Black on here?), that's where I got mine from. You can get them a lot cheaper if you can find one at a local scrappy though, think I paid about £25.

You need to chop about 3" off both ends and then it's just a case of attaching it with some self tapping screws; start in the middle and mould it to fit as you go. Also need to cut two little protusions off from the middle, takes a couple of seconds with a saw/knife.
