Why has no one tryed Supercharging a RS?

  Breaking A 172 Replica
One dude came on here from a tuning company. He want an RS to do a conversion on. IIRC he did do it and but I am unsure how succesful it was.

That looks pretty neat.

It is unusual that no one has started manufacturing supercharger conversions for the 172/182 like the Jackson racing one for the CTR.

Veracruz: I've loved the sound of that word ever since I saw the movie starring Burt Lancaster and Garry Cooper.

Mike @ Rentech bought the one that Mike T had on his V6...don't know if he ever fitted it, but remember seeing it for sale and feeling VERY, VERY tempted!

Sold that ages ago, never fitted it. Its being fitted or has been fitted to a Renault Alpine V6, will have to wait untill FCS to see if the chap has done it or not.
Current project for my car is VAG 1.8T lump, got nearly everything I need now, looks fairly straightforward to swop.
The company who make the supercharger in the picture above dont do this anymore as far as I know.

its just a near impossibility to work with the a/c equipped cars as drive for the supercharger is just impossible to get off the existing aux setup.

And the cup market is too small for anybody to really warrent any development intrest.

That setup might look tidy, but with zero intercooling and taking air straight out of the comp housing will lead to poor setup and performance, along with extreem det sensitivity as air temps can reach 100 deg and the knock threshold is 40.

Thanks for the reply's....so bacically its a no go, as said thought it must be something to do with compatability as this would be a very popular modification.

That conversion was done by Novidem
http://www.novidem.de/

I emailed them about it a while back. They said they werent going to sell it because of the cost of the car vs cost of the conversion ie a 7k conversion on a 12k car would not sell well.

There is a company that is developing one but I think it is for cars without air con.
