Why is it always the way.....

  Maybe a 172 Cup..
Am now looking for a phase 1, and am in a position to buy. Have set myself a maximum budget of £2000. Really can't justify having any more in car, as basically is gonna be taxi for me to work, maybe 3x a week(14 mile round trip), and hoping to do a few novice track days. Use wifes golf for days out and the like. A couple of really nice examples in classifieds, but don't know whether I can justify the extra bit of outlay for the use car is gonna get.

Over the last month would have snapped both Mr Bognor and W17gle s cars up, but now I can buy, perfect examples for my needs are nowhere to be seen.

Always the way.............

Yep! I bought a low mileage cup thats right mechanically but needed some love exterior wise. About two months after i bought i, two came up on here that fitted the bill, (ie low mileage and tidy!) but at the time i had been looking for about 3 months lolz!

I had this exact same issue when I wanted to buy my 106 GTi. Loads of mint, well kept examples were up for sale, many of them with mods that I wanted to do myself anyway. As soon as I'd got the money ready to go and buy one there weren't any decent ones for sale anywhere.
In the end I waited about 3 weeks until a good one came up for sale at the right price, then ended up travelling all the way up to Blackburn to buy it.

I think you need to buy it from him, and then allow me to travel all the way from Yorkshire, and hand you £1800 English pounds;)

  1.4 phase 1
i've been looking at ph1s recentley, been some great examples but it annoys you when you see a mint example but you dont have your money ready.

That's why I wouldn't view any private cars till ready to buy. Firstly don't want to be wasting a private sellers time, also don't want to set your heart on something for it never to happen...

mine went for £1500 not missing it one bit. Not that there was anything wrong with the car its just i'd had enough of paying out to run two cars its such a waste of money.

Agree with the waste of money bit mate. Me and missus work in opposite directions and half little boy though, so for now must continue to fund the governments lavish lifestyle.

£1500 mate, would have been ideal for my situation!!!

Much prefer my plan Mr Bognor. We'll use your plan as a back-up ie. I'll buy from your old man, and give you first refusal..... You likin' it??
:approve:

How come you're missing it pal anyway?
