Why no love for 423's?

in most clio itb engine builds people seem to use catcam 422 cams. they make good power and people seem happy.

but why not use 423's?

i suspect a higher redline would be required but how high would the redline need to be?

ive asked about 551 cams.

people dont seem to know why they went for 422's over 423's.

which is why im asking.

and im looking for people who have used them

EDIT - Danny, on the GDI car why did you go for 422's rather than the 423's then?

nope, you asked about 423s too, found the thread already.

Peak power occurs at higher RPM and low end will be compromised

yeah its ok saying that, but how is that reflected in terms of power/torque?

peak power occuring at higher rpm. so just moves power band meaning no extra power gained?

figures? what sort of redline required? previous cars fitted with them? why nobody seems to go for them?

You'd need to rev too high for the stock valve train to make use of them. Standard valves already like dropping the heads off, and hydraulic lifters fill up with air. Double the cost of the engine build to get another 5-10bhp. Not many people have pushed 422s to their peak yet TBH

so you would say you would get more bhp/torque/drivability from 422's than 423's with a 8k redline?
