Wide-Arch Dynamique...

Before reading on, please note that:
1) It's not finished
2) At this moment in time, I have absolutely No intention of fitting a full RS kit
3) It's going to get 1*2 widetracked next year.

Right, after much research, it seemed that nobody had really attempted to run RS arches with a standard Dynamique front end. And with good reason tbh. It doesn't fit too well. Obviously there's the section where they connect to the side skirts, and the corner of the bumper which doesn't line up properly.
But i will persevere because I think it looks proper hard widearched!
Recieved them at lunch time today, and I'd finished fitting by about 5 due to some nuts being rusted solid and not having any WD40 :dapprove:, and multiple tea-breaks, of course!

I'll let the pictures do the talking...
(And yes, they're wayy over-edited. But at least you can't tell how dirty it actually is!)

I don't really expect a positive reception, but I like it and that's the main thing.. Right?

I like it a lot, subtle but still noticeable. Needs some wider wheels and ET of about 0 now though.

thats alot of work for it to look like a proper job, hats off if you pull it off though...
i think it looked fine as it was tbh..

I don't not like it but I'm just wondering why mate?

Ermm... Why not? lol Don't want to go down the rep route. Drilling holes down the side of my car for side skirts does not appeal to me!
And it's different :)

Refurbing some currently! And hopefully going to run a 172 widetrack set up too, which should help!

I'm going to get practicing with fibreglass, and hopefully will be able to make it look much neater.
It did look okay, and I got it to a point where i was happy with it... but Insurance says no to a 1*2 for another year or so.. so why not - it's different!

Looks good so far, once you get the wheels sitting out into them properly it'll look mint

172 widetrack should sort this, hopefully :)

looks mint IMO

Thanks!!

Never std bumper and arches, only 1*2 bumper and std arches... now lets see a side profile of that ;)

Looks good, 25mm spacers would be perfect and should work out cheaper than 172 widetrack, worth considering.

I wasn't being a tw@t mate, just wondered what you're achieving from RS arches with the stadard bumper because it'll never be right :dapprove:

Does look better, but I'm unsure whether it was worth it.

No worries buddy! I totally understand what you're saying. It's not a perfect fit at the moment, what so ever. But it is definitely do-able, just need to practice using fibreglass, so i can shape them a little more and smooth where the RS kit would be.
I'll end up with something that nobody else has, hopefully. I can't count how many replica's have been made, and while they're admittedly all pretty mint (yours included!), I couldn't live with it looking like a 1*2, but not going like one!
Just personal preference & I like making things difficult for myself!
And tbh, if i c**k them up completely they were less than £100, so, although I don't like throwing money away, it's hardly the end of the world!

If you're going to smooth it in then fair played, I thought you were going to just leave it like that lol!

I can't stand my engine, but 99% of the time I can only do 30 anyway so I don't see the point in me paying over £5k for a car that looks the same, but can shift quicker to 30 :p

Yeah, although it will be like this for a while, until i can fibreglass - which i aren't too happy about.

True on the second point, too! I really want to get into trackdays though - not ideal with 75 limp horses though, tbh

Looks nice mate. Better than i expected!! xx

I was really unsure as to whether they'd even fit, let alone look good!
Thanks, mate
<3

looks really good!! i personally think a ph1 172 rear bumper would compliment that front end well.

Cheers! I did actually think about a ph1 bumper, but ended up going with a ph2 172 one + a cup spoiler... sheepish but safe! lol

Does look cool mate but i think you will be shocked how hard it will be to make them fit right. I think you would be better off getting a shagged sport front bumper cutting the top sections out that fit the wings and then plastic welding/fibreglassing the sections into your standard bumper then painting it. That way you have a bumper that fits correctly, thats mint and that you can take on and off as many times as you want.

Planning on getting some RS side skirts?

Just been discussing this with Alex_C.

That sounds like a good idea tbh! I'd need to chop the dynamique bumper up too, as it pokes out, then, as you say, plastic weld the section of sport bumper on.
Considered fibreglassing ontop of the wing, where it joins to the bumper, but I don't think it would look too great tbh.
As for side skirts, I was hoping to avoid fitting them, but it certainly looks like the easy way out!
Will just have to see what other ideas I can come up with.
One was to create a mesh in the shape of where the side skirt joins and try smooth it into the sill with fibreglass, if you see what I'm saying?

I certainly know it's going to be no walk in the park, anyway! ;)

forget trying mesh etc mate honestly 1 bump it will crack. get 2 bumpers and then hack em up and plastic weld it then work on smoothing and painting only way really unless you want major hassle and the fear if you take the bumper off the fibreglass will crack etc. Yeah chuck the Rs side skirts on be easy and there cheap.

Cutting up bumpers etc not that hard i did a sport bumper to standard wings in a similar way took about 6 hours? + drying time etc

With Side Skirts, is there any way to attach them without having to put holes down the side of the sill? That's the main thing putting me off tbh.

I'll have to see if I can find any bumpers going cheap then, in that case! Doesn't sound too bad...

  Discounted 1*2 parts
what camber u running on the front out of interest, because i'm trying to guage what spacers i need for our rep. I've read 30mm is about the max?
