Wide-Arch Dynamique...

  Stagecoach Ticket
With Side Skirts, is there any way to attach them without having to put holes down the side of the sill? That's the main thing putting me off tbh.

I'll have to see if I can find any bumpers going cheap then, in that case! Doesn't sound too bad...

not really mate if u got the tools and workspace

have no idea how the 172 skirts are attached think there some kind of clips are they not? if not can use tiger seal or some other kind of bond i guess just keep in on the sill not the bottom of the paintwork?

what camber u running on the front out of interest, because i'm trying to guage what spacers i need for our rep. I've read 30mm is about the max?

Err, got 3 degrees k-tec camper bolts on maximum negative, and the slight adjustment on the coilovers. So about 3.5? Running 25mm spaces too, but the wheels have massive offset so they're still tucked really far in the arches...

If you fit side skirts you may aswell just go the full rep route, safe yourself a load of hassle and get a sport front bumper. Even if it wasn't the direction you wanted to go, it certainly seems like the direction you're going in.

Looks different, I like it tbh! what do you do when editing your pics out of interest?

An add on tool for PhotoShop called Topaz edit, or something. Put topaz HDR into Google :)

That's the one thing I definitely don't want!
100% not making a rep!
I know it would be easier, and cheaper, but meg!

Nice idea, although i think it would have been better if you had a facelift bumper with the protruding foglight housing. I actually think that bumper is better than the 1*2 one!

Having said that...why not just go riveted arches all round? Now that would be original on a Clio!

Certainly needs sideskirts; can you not get them bonded on?

What wheels are you going to go for?

Yeah, wanted to go for a ph3 bumper, so I think that'll be next. Especially having seen ROB91's unpainted one!
Would eventually be going for some 16" Speedline 2110's in silver, I think. But until I've got enough money for them, it'll probably be on SuperTurismo's :dapprove:
Riveted arches would be awesome, but I'd need it to be as wide as a Vee at the back for that to work! Lol

The best idea i've heard so far was Jimbo-Clio's, which was plastic welding the corners of knackered, cheap sport bumper onto a non-sport one - that way it'll be flush.
The bit where it connects to side-skirts, I'm not sure yet. Could just go with side-skirts as that's the easy option, but I think that means drilling down the side for the skirt brackets, as everyone who's bonded sideys on is never really happy with them.
I think I need to decide how far I really want to go with the car, as it'll be getting past the point of not being able to return it back to standard soon.
By the time I'll be able to afford to upgrade to a sport, it'll not be worth all that much - so i could just go all out, take it off the road, do a 1*2 conversion, non-sunroof roof skin etc and have it as a track car... We shall see!

I love it! It looks awesome so good on you for persevering and doing something different.

One thing I will say is that I have bonded on side skirts and I <3 them. Mind you I paid a stupid amount for a body shop to sort them out properly for me.

  mx5 & 172
excellent job/idea :D

skirts would spoil it imo. it'll be nice and clean if you can get it all bent into the right shape with no skirts.

on the wheels front, anything with 0 or negative offset and a decent lip will retain its value really well if you're willing/able to invest in the real thing.
Just avoid rotas and any of the other "clones" and they'll shift in no time on the VW / Mazda forums.

Thanks! It's something that's never really been done before, so I think it'll be worth it!
Still not decided on skirts, I think it'd look much better without, maybe because I can't picture it with them...

could cut some wings up n put them together to avoid skirts. hmmmmm

Could do, it would take some doing though, I'm scared of just chopping everything up and it not working!

Yeah, kind of agree with the skirts, it would just be the easy way to go about it!

And I don't think clio's really suit dished wheels all that well... I don't know!
