I think they will be tight, i`m sure 15s are the smallest on the 172, although I might be wrong. Are you installing them just for appearance?? You won`t really benefit performance wise going to smaller wheels, apart from gaining more wheel spin off the mark and increased body roll.

You won't get smaller than 15" Dan, my std f1's have about a 5mm gap, tight.
