Will MOT tell if Lambda has issues?

  330Ci (Fail)Sport
I think I'm right in saying poor fuel economy can be linked to lambda sensor issues.

If so, will this show on the MOT emissions as they do the lambda test on fast idle? Its suppose to be between 0.97 and 1.03 and mine is 1.00.

If that means my lambda is fine, then I must just have a heavier right foot than I thought.

my mot failed on lambda and i felt my mpg was a little down but i used to do the same journey week in week out and drove the same so i knew something was up. Try driving like a ***** for a tank and if its still down then sensor needs replacing(possibly)

Well for nearly 2yrs I averaged around 30mpg in a 1.4 8v but since I was only driving it on the weekends or 2 weekends a month so it got hammered a lot  Then in the last year I was averaging around 33/34 with a mix of hammering and talking it easy but could never get any better no matter how hard I tried. And then about a month a go I got around 38-40mpg (driving superbly calmly/economically/boringly in brisk rush hour traffic).

So because of the poor comsumption until a month ago I though there might be something wrong but if MOT test says 1.00, it means it must be working fine?
