will not allways go in gear

i am having problens slecting gears and wen i put it in revers i get a clunk this is not all the time just some of the time i have bin in to reno and thay put 200 miles on the car and sed thet cud not find anything wrong

wot do i do??

can any one help:S it is a 1.2 16v 05 plate



(plan B is to drop a 172 lump in there and up grade every thing)

i think i can do it ALL for £2000.

ignore what renault say mate, go to your local mechanic, chuck him in the car take him 4 a spin, and let him see the problem while your there!!
i had this on my old escort mate years ago, clutch had gone, not cheap, so get it sorted before you can.
If you still aren't having any luck, got an amazing mechanic here, but it;s in llanrwst (you'd have to bring it here, hes dirt cheap and sorts every problem ive ever had

Forget doing a transplant firstly get the proper car its much easier and less hastle.

As for the problem well check the gearbox level sounds like the dearlership putting 200 miles on it were having a laught shoulnd't need to put anywhere near that much on it.

The gearbxo are never great but get the garage to check the selectro mecnism it might need adjustsing.

could just be the gear linkage. My corsa used to do this. Was hard to get in some gears until one day wouldnt go in 1st/reverse. Had to get it towed to garage and said it was just the gear links which went.

Like people say take it to local mechanic not renault

When they do fault finding basically they give a the car to a mechanic to use at his leasure out of hours and during hence why you have 200 miles on it.

They probably took the kids to school and went shopping in it
