will panels fit

  phase 1 flamer 172
Just purchased a clio 172 X reg, dont like the plastic sill covers and would like to remove them, but the wings have cotouts for them and would look silly. So my question is can i swap my wings for ones from a lesser model and will they then line up with my front panel/lights or would i need to swap them, thanks for any help.

Personally - think you're a bit mad.

But, I think the Renault Sport front wings are also wider to give enough clearance for the front wheels - not just because of the different sized wheels, but I think the suspension is also quit different.

May fit, not sure. Bound to be someone who's tried it.

even better if the wings are not so wide because i think the standard renault wheels look a bit lost in the sports bulbous wings, anyway i have picked up a pair of a 1400 model so will give it a try.

Are you serious?

First of all, it'll look sh*t.

Second, the bumper won't line up and there'll be clips along the side of the car which you'll need to take off. Which I'm pretty sure are bonded/screwed on so will leave a mess which means re-painting both full sides of the car.

Well i genuinely prefer the looks of the lesser models, but the power handling of the of the 172, i have also got the complete front panel/valence/spoiler so hopefully it will all fit/line up. As for any respraying, i have never been interested in washing, polishing shiny paintwork on my cars.

When you take them off, the clips holding them on are rivited in, so you'll be left with about 14 holes along the side of your car.

Will not work.

The side of your car will look like this:

Polishing paintwork has nothing to do with leaving holes along the side of your car, which will let in water, which will mean rust.

well removed the sill cover, removed a large amount of wet black road filth from underneath it which im sure would have made the sill very rusty sooner rather than later so covers will not be going back on. Loosely trial fitted a wing which seems to fit ok, so, so far all systems go.
