Will you change the cambelt at 980ukp?

I just got a quote from my local dealer, cambelt change (included bearings, water-pump, aux belt, labour) cost 980ukp. What should I do? Crazy!

I am from Hong Kong. It is quoted by the only dealer we have here. Or I have to go to the orther garage. But do we need to remove the engine in order to replace the cambelt??? That is what the guy from Reno said. Crazy!

no, just unbolt the covers, take it to another garage, can you ge tme one of them hong kong clip sport stickers

Drop BenR a message ghe used to live out there and worked for Renault he should lknow somewhere cheaper.

  Lionel Richie
erm, ask him about his history (he's nearly on the level of Einstein)

ever heard of Toms Toyota Racing???

Yes, I wish he can come and help, I can borrow my friend's garage to do it.

Well, BenR's used to work at Renault Hong Kong called "Jebsen". It is the same dealer as Porsche in same building. But they are not longer the Renault dealer now in HK.

BenR actually recommend me to go back to Renault to do it cos he think no other garage is good in HK. In Hong Kong, it will only cost 150ukp to change a cambelt and water pump for a Toyota Corolla. Since Renault is not popular in HK, not many shop knows well about the French. We do have some very professional garage, but I haven't ask for quote yet. But I always wonder if it is really so different to change the cambelt of Clio in compare to other cars???

Basically, 980.00ukp can allow me to hire someone fly over to do the job. I guess in low season, HK- London round trip cost about 300ukp. Oh, maybe labour cost is high in UK huh?

How much are parts for cambelt, bearing, water pump and aux. belt??? I mean everything I need for the cambelt change???

Do I really need the special Reno tool to do it???

And does anyone have the photos of the cambelt change process. It will be very very helpful.

We use the same emblem as UK. But we do have the dealer sticker that you can stick inside the window.

In China, they do have Chinese emblem, but no Renault. Honda and Mazda are nice cos they match the English. Let me know if anyone is interest, I maybe able to help. I use Paypal :p

hahahaha, but got to see how expensive the parts are.
Maybe what I am looking for is - a VIDEO that show how to change the cambelt and the required components. That would be cool!!!

Does anyone else want one of those lutecia (if that's what it's called) cup badges for the back of their car? V. cool.

Yes, BenR's dad is a big important in the car industry. That's what he told me.

For the Lutecia badge, I got in in Osaka, Japan. It is what they call Clio in Japan. "Cup" is from 182 Cup, it is not from Japan.

Sorry, I have no more "Lutecia". Please go to Japan and buy :-D
Actually, you may try "Thaila", it is another name of Clio that is used in somewhere else. I forgot, may Poland :-}
