oh i see!!!!! was that the same for the willy 2 and 3s??

Originally i was under the impression that 1-400 were RHD and 401 to 2500 were LHD. However 0001 is now known to be LHD so I am assuming that 0002 to 400 are RHD (we know 399 is, as its for sale in EVO) and 401 to 2500 are LHD. However, someone told me that 4 hundred and something is RHD too, so now im not sure. Im looking into it as we speak so ill keep you posted.

No its common for the numbers to go over 4000.

These are the european numbers in left hand drive !!!

Have heard of a few around that number !!

No sign of the missing willy, Im afraid. I assumed itd be logged with Renault by the police? Insurance have settled now so it wouldnt be mine anymore, but Ill send you the details.

vavavoom - I tell you what, it is really starting to measure up. I know some people really dont like wheel spacers (i know the arguements, Ive decided to risk it!), but theyve really changed the handling. Certainly enough to cope with whatever you chuck at it, which is what made the Willy so good to drive. I also prefer the 172 engine, even though it doesnt put out much more bhp than the Willy (although def. more torque, just spread differently).

when the clio cup was popular in holland(i mean the race with 16Valvers) the Willie was a hot item 2 steal here in holland, where they would put the more powerfull 2 liter engine instead of the 1.8....

(the first owner of my willie had ordered a willie at the local dealer, when news came it was stolen from the terrain:they had chopped the frontgate of with another car to steal the Willie!! a few years earlier they had stolen one of the few Swiss Champion delivered to Holland at the same dealer)FOOLS!!

when the clio cup was ended in 96 they were stolen A LOT less!!!!!!!!

(this info comes from someone working for the insurace company)_

According to one web site:

In 1993, 3600 numbered specimens were produced (only 2500 specimens were necessary for the homologation)

Then, several series (not numbered) were sold until 1996.

Total production: 12 100 specimens,

It was sold with export in several European countries (of which the United Kingdom: 400 specimens) and even with.... Japan!!

In 1994: it profited from the restylage of range CLIO (calenders, fires...) and proposed even two options (cassette radio 4x6w with order under the conducting wheel and airbag).

A special series of 500 specimens was produced for the Swiss market: the CLIO "Williams Swisschampion" (with some additional accessories).

This indicates that Japan has some RHD models and the Swiss have some nicer versions. Maybe 0002-400 were british and and RHD after 400 is a Jap car

Sooooo, if only 3600 original Williams were sold (with plaque), why is the numbering upto 6000 odd?

yeah, thats odd...

but on the other hand: if the first were delivered here in Europe, than there had to been others with a plaque for the other countries(as all the 0-3500 are in europe)

they also have 2 have a plaque 2 have a limited edition, and you cant have two 0002(i suppose)

or, i hope 4 U:D

in your opinion,

in Holland i might see every 2 months another Willie....

in the city of The Hague i´ve seen in 1 year 4 Willie´s incl mine

a Willie is a rare sight!
