Williams One Wheels Question

Do they have the silver lips to the wheels or are they all gold?

If they are all gold - they have been refurbed?

Had a thought Northy.

If your convinced your wheels are original and not been refurbed, are they actually Speedlines? Or a set of the Prima Copies?

Should say Speedline on them.

Speedline pal. Looked at all the codes and they match against MartinS 100% original ones direct from renault.

Think it is just Williams 3s which were differant from the 1s and 2s.

Anyway they will be refurbished as they currently are.

The wheels on my car are from a Willy 3 and the silver rim carries on towards the tyre.
The brand new wheels my mate has are the same!

Mat.

All Williams wheels fitted by Renault have silver rims.

AFAIK, Speedline made the same wheels for ages after in gold, but without the silver rim.

Not for Renault tho..

I didnt think they made any others, apart from for Renault - thats why you cant get them at all.. from Speedline or anywhere apart from Renault.

I know they all the williams had the silver rim, but what im intrested in is how far the silver dimond cut rim goes.

Either just the lip, or all the way up and into the tyre.

Thats what they are supposed to be! :D

[Edited by Daz on 09 May 2004 at 7:50pm]

Edit, I got that wrong - they should NOT be gold after the Silver rim..

I Disagree mate, check my pics as mine arnt... and i know for certain there the origonal un-touched ones! ;)

Their may be a rouge batch out there that were made by speedline perhaps?

Or maybe only the very late ones were like above? Mine was reg 08/95...

Mine are the original ones, cos theyre badley curbed and yes u get the silver rim.

If ur wheels are all gold, then its been refurbed...badley im afraid.

Sorry if im being a trev but -

Daz yours are gold after the dimond cut rim ? Like this then -
Mine have been refurbed, so mine are probably a bad example.

I know an original Williams 3 Alloy is silver after the rim..

As far as im aware you cannot get them refurbed with the diamond cut rim - I can get them done by someone with a Silver rim but not the original diamond cut. Not sure that maybe just having the gold rim may be better than a silver non-diamond cut rim.

It is possible to diamond-cut them again, just need the right machinery and cutting tips etc...

Saying that theres probably not many re-furb places capable of carrying it out

Ive yet to find a place which does them the right colour, which lasts and has the silver rim at all..

Most them dont..

Only way to get original original seems to be buy new ones from Renault - which aint cheap.

Living way up here theres nobody that can do it - havent got round to deciding what to do about them.

The cars immaculate apart from the alloys but id much rather have average alloys the right colour than refurbed alloys the wrong colour. I still havent got a exact match for the original paint code as no one has heard of it. They only know pantone and ral.

how bad are the wheels mate? they in a bad way?

They look ok from a few meters away but not up close - 5/10 maybe.

I used silver and gold touch up paint on the rotton/kerbed bits so they look fine from a distance.

Well, Ill just agree that mine appear differant to everyone elses and get them refurbished to the same spec as what they are now.
