williams starting problems

hi all

my GF williams has a strange problem when starting the engine after a long time not being used and in cold weather, like 2 weeks or so and sub 0 C temps

at craniking the engine will try to start, then it sounds like it has no compression, the starter turns it very freely and at times it seems only 1 or 2 cyls are compressing. after a long time trying and when the oil press goes up a little (1 bar or so) the thing starts, and it will start no problem unless the car is not used for a long time

the car has 80k km... mine has 200k and never had such problem.
any idea? going to buy a leak down tester later on

Sounds like a lack of fuel pressure mate - when i rebuilt the head on mine and tried to start it again it wouldnt and that had been sitting on the drive for about four weeks - after a lot of trying tho it started in the end... best day of my life - that sounds like the same prob as u mate - i just kept trying. If you have lost compression then the chances of it starting again are very slight so i doubt its that.....

maybe the piston rings are going dry when you leave it stood for long periods so you intially lose some compression.have you tried changing the oil and putting some quality stuff back in.
