Williams Tyre choices

  220bhp octy VRS

Wanted to know everyones opinion on 2 things:

1) What is the best tyre size for a williams (185/55/15 or 195/55/15)? what are your experiances?

2) What are better out of Toyo Proxes t1-s and Goodyear Eagle f1 gsd-2s?

cheers

ive got goodyear nct5s 195/50 r15s on my 16v. grip wise theres not much difference but there a bit cheaper and they look a bit better in my opinion.

the goodyear are a better tyre out of those 2 but they cost a bit more. have a scoot around http://www.mytyres.netwww.mytyres.net. they have reviews and performance profiles for loads of tyres

I wouldnt put Toyos on.. Ive had em, and didnt rate them much.

Have Uniroyal Rainsport 1s on the back now.. so far, so good - and Mr Weight uses em and says they good too.

Im running 185/55/15s T1-Ss, they seem to be ok at the mo, I cant complain considering i managed to get all four for £114.

My mate has Eagles on his Punto GT, and he swears by em, so im gonna check them out next time.

Where did you get them, I need some!

195s cheaper and there is no real diff, but some people will try tell you finiky diffs.

Eagles are ok, expesnive as hell but not 100% better than tyres that cost less, dont waste your time or your money on them.....there are far cheaper and better options out there.

agreed, bridgestones are far better, even the RE-720s.......

Better than 41 quid fitted, how about 2 fitted! lol

They ran out quite quickly so I dunno if they got any back in stock, but worth a butchers anyways.

would putting 195/50/15s on instead of 185/55/15s make any change to the handling etc cos they are wider?

also anyone know anywhere in either the kent/essex/hants/surrey area or derbyshire/yorkshire that is good for williams wheels refurbing?

I originally had 195/50/15s on,

Personally I feel that the 185s drive better, but from time to time, they scrub going over speed bumps. Im just gonna have to learn to slow down more i guess.

What do you recommend then, 195/50/15 or 185/55/15, which will be the lowest profile over all. and then what tyre would you tell me is best BenR. Then I will place my order and be done!

195 as they are cheaper, 185s many will say give more feedback, ride better, more resposive blah blah blah.......but in all honesty, the diff is minimal and really arent worth the cost. You cant get any decent tyres in that size either.

Bridgestones if you can stump up for them, S-03s or RE-720s if you cant afford the 3s.

I run on A539s because they are cheap and i really have no complaints......despite what people say.

My friend has A539s on his car (not a clio) and he loves them, swares by them, I like them too, as I drive it a lot. Much better than his old tyres!

They are good, ive done about 20 laps at combe on them, with alot of heavy tail out antics. That day i embarresed many rally prepped machines and so called AWD jap super machines.

Plenty of tread and never a problem, although they did start to overheat towards the end. But that was 20 laps on rd tyres.........i love them, not had a problem in the wet either.

I think I may go for them, seeing as you recommend them and so does my friend... Never had any problems when driving his car either... Its a 180bhp Uno turbo so it has a bit of power to lay down on the road!

But i find the A539s absolutely crap in the wet! and would not say they were better at all.

OI!!!!!!

GOD HAS SPOKEN! ;)

Well agree to disagree..........im just not a fan of the overated F1s, i got 4 part worns you can have (i say have, but mean buy cheap). If its wet i tend not to hoon it at all.

I heard 539s with crap in wet too.. good in dry tho.

RainSports.. Im telling you now, RainSports are the future..

Thanks!

539s arent the best, but they arent the worst......they are not rain tyres, of course a tyre called rainsport and designed to run in the rain are going to be good in the wet....how silly.

Im gonna make a tyre called the drysport!

But as for them being the future........dunno about that, unless the heavens open up and noah comes along supplying them.
