wind screen wiper problem

hey ive got a small problem with my clio dci.the windscreen wipres have lost there intermittent speed on them.now its not got auto wipers or anything but when put on the intermittent speed theres only a one second gap between wipes instead of say a 10 second gap.any ideas what this could be?really starting to bug me!

Have you got the switch on the wiper stalk which can change the time inbetween wipes?

no its not got that function on it.i used to have this on a previous car and its defo not there.its only just started to do this as well.

ok right ive been doing a bit more lookiing around the forum and now im not sure if i have got auto wipers or not?its a 02 dci 80bhp dynamic model.

Has it got auto lights? If it has it will have auto wipers. Also see if it has the sensor behind the rear view mirror.

right defo has not got auto wipers or auto lights as i lack the comtrols on the stalks and the gel pack on the windscreen.so any one any ideas what could be causing the problem?
