hi im of to look at a 172 tomorrow is the best way to check if it is a uk car the window etchings

is this the black writing on the windows including the word renault

should have had a cat 1 alarm fitted, check for alarm sensors on the front pillars at side of windscreen, also the alarm light next to gear lever, not sure about window etching though, also ring renault uk customer services and give them the reg plate, they should confirm where it was first registered and also which renault dealer supplied the car
ps the alarm works via the cars key, NOT a seperate alarm fob

Thats one way.
Another way to tell is the UK imports don't have an alarm as standard, so if you've got an extra plip key fob as well as yr standard key, then it could be an import.

Hence, if it's not got an alarm, its an import.

Dont worry too much if it is an import, if its a nice car and youre happy with the price, go for it. Trade-Sales.co.uk is a massive new and pre-reg car seller at reasonable prices, their cars are UK imports - I know, mine was originally sourced from there.
